View Full Version : way too many reel to reels! Hello

Well I've gone and joined another newsgroup! I've had a lot of fun on NakTalk, via AK over the last two years, and as a tape lover I've remained interested in reel and cassette long after rational people switched to MP3s. My first deck was a Sony TC230...actually it was a stereo. Over the years I owned the Concord (lifetime heads!), Teac 2300SX, Revox A77, and finally B77, and a slew of nice decks that I'll do something with some day! I'm not so much a collector as a fixer, but I seem to have 15 nice cassette decks and 8 reels that I just enjoy having nearby. It's like potential energy.
My modus operandi is answering questions, so if there are some questions floating around post 'em.

Welcome! I recall you on AK back in those times. Glad you stopped over here, and there's plenty of room for more technically-saavy users. Fifteen cassette decks? Ha! Newbie! *grin* Some of us are more afflicted with the disease.

Sorry Tom! I just made the linkage between names here and names there. Anyway, again -- Welcome! For everyone's edification, Nakdoc is one of the premier tape deck refurbishers around. We should be very happy to have him stop by from time to time.

You can NEVER have too many decks, reels, and tapes.
More than you can ever hope to use or want? Yeah. Maybe.
But NEVER "too many" *yes*
Welcome to TapeHeads! Look around. Enjoy your stay. Hopefully you'll be able to answer lots of questions. And at the same time, don't be afraid to ASK any.

"Too many" is when you take decks out of circulation with the intent of getting them going 'someday". It's like my model trains. I've kept them since high school so I can play with them again "when I get old".

That's a good idea. A reel tower of power, a cassette castle....
