Do any of those auctions on Ebay selling the new Sony HF cassettes for more than what you can pay @ K-mart or Target ever sell? I've never paid them any mind, but there are quite a few of them. I don't think I've ever seen a bid on them. Now I don't mean the auctions where other tapes are being offered in addition to the new Sony HF tapes, but the auctions where the only tapes sold are the new Sony HF. I was just wondering.

I really couldn't tell you. That's a good question. I don't really track the 'current' tapes, especially the Sony and TDK ones. When it comes to tracking tapes, the Maxell's get my almost undivided attention.

Anyway, the simplest way to answer your question would be to simply query a 'completed items' search for the tapes in question. Then sort by "highest price" and see what you get. Follow it for about a month and see what the trend is. Random spot checks seldom tell the whole picture and its best to see how they fare over a certain length of time. After all, a single high priced sale could be a fluke and not necessarily indicative of the sales in general.

Speaking of which, it seems like no one here has done a thorough review of the Sony HF Type-I tape as we have the Akai SX, TDK D, Maxell UR, and Fuji DR-1. Has anybody any experience with Sony's still-mass-available HF lineup?

HA! That's funny, because I sold all my unopened Sony HF tapes on Ebay along with a bunch of other type I cassettes about 6 months ago.
