I was wondering if anyone around here knows of authorized dealers for Otari equipment (mainly their tape deck) and service centres as well. I live in central Canada (Ontario) but I suppose if there isn't one around here there is always New York State or NE-USA. Come on, somebody here has got to know if there are any shops around here!

Thanks!

This place is an authorized Tascam service center, which really means it's an independent shop that probably fixes some other brands too. They're in Williamsville, NY, near Buffalo. Even if they can't do it, they might be able to point you in the right direction.

PRECISION AUDIO SERVICE
6589 MAIN STREET
WILLIAMSVILLE, NY 14221
(716) 634-8845

Or maybe:

OTARI USA SALES, INC.
21110 NORDHOFF STREET SUITE G/H
CHATSWORTH, CA 91311
(818) 734-1785 FAX (818) 734-1786
E-MAIL: sales@otari.com

Hope this helps.

I've e-mailed them to see what they say...you would think there would be at least one pro-audio shop around Toronto that would do sales/service for Otari but I'll wait see what kind of response I get. A shop in the Buffalo area isn't too bad if I have to go that route.

Thanks again!

I'm from Detroit, and we have 2 Otari authorized places here if you can drive 5 hours.:(

I was in your downtown Toronto yesterday; for the 1st time. Great city, loved it! Friendly folks as well. Even talked to a guy that loves the Detroit Lions of all things!!!!!!*eyepop*

Lot's of vinyl in Toronto too which Detroit sorely lacks....

Is that I buy most of it off internet stores or on e-bay. There's an online store in Japan that I buy from as well (to get those Japanese pressings). I actually buy most of my audiophile LPs from a guy in Hamilton.

But then we don't have the Red Wings, we have the Toronto Make-Beliefs!

That IS funny. The past 3 days I've been telling everyone who will listen, "You've got to get to TORONTO for vinyl! It's awesome!"

And you're actually there and buying it online. Go figure!!!!! :-oo

I'm curious as to what stores you frequent...perhaps there's some I don't know about. My favourite is Ric's in Port Credit (in Mississauga). He has a lot of nice original pressings from the 1960s and will talk your head off about records...he got me that Doors boxed set.

Only been to Toronto once, so none are really "frequent". However, I managed to find Around Again records on Baldwin which was
unfortunatley closed! From there I spotted Metropolis Records atop a McDonalds on
Spandina but as far as I could tell, the place was out of business!

So, from there I found an HMV and asked them for any close by vinyl
stores. They told me about Vintage sounds a block up and I went there.
Very friendly folks and I spent about $40 there and was informed about
the awesome record shows in Toronto coming up in the fall. Wish I could
come back for those!

Then, they told me about Amoroso records across the street which
specialized in classical. Wow, some real gems there, but certainly no deals.
They knew what they had for sure. I bought a half dozen lp's from
them, and they were very nice as well and threw in a free record! That
was after I had already spent close to $90 there, and was a nice
gesture.

On the way home, we visited downtown London, ON and I hit 3 more record stores---Grooves was one of them and I cannot recall the names of the other 2 right downtown. Anyhow, some cool vinyl finds in Canada! Lot's of UK imports as well for the new stuff anyhow.
