Are there any? I'm talking three heads, adjustable azimuth, the whole nine yards. NAD613 I think you've mentioned that Denon makes a good one still.

Yeah, here's the Denon I'm referring to, but not to many places have it & I think it's no longer in production:

Same can be said for this Tascam:

If I were buying a new deck, I'd buy one of these. There's also a store on Ebay that sells factory refurbished Teac decks, really nice ones, i.e. 3-head, Dolby S, etc., for around $150-$200.

This is along the lines of what I want, sans the $800 price tag!:D

Just a month or two ago there were a few online stores that were still selling those brand new. I just checked Google & I couldn't find them. Tascam must have stopped making them within the last year or so.

Not that long ago CanalHifi New York had new ones for sale, then they only had a demo unit, but at a good price. They might still have the demo for sale though...you'd have to check.

I think T&A, that's theory and application as opposed to the other boys, make three cassette decks currently.
Information is a little sketchy, seems that the decks are tray loaders if you catch my drift. Here's the spec on their top drawer deck;
The Tapedeck CC 820 M
To match the usual T+A case with its extremely low-profile design a high-quality tape transport of metal construction is used, fitted with a sophisticated front loading mechanism. It has an accurate, low-wear revolver head reverse mechanism, very good speed consistency, and extremely low running noise and resonance thanks to the vibration-damped, fully de-coupled suspension system within the CC 820 M's all-metal case.
The mechanism can easily be adjusted and fine-tuned for both directions of running, and the motor is very effectively shielded in order to avoid stray fields affecting the tape heads. The amplifier stages are low-noise differential amplifiers utilising J-FET technology, and are carefully designed to match the widely varying impedance of the tape heads.
The CC 820 M records its own operating hours and head revolutions and automatically displays a warning on the screen when it should be taken to a specialist T+A dealer for servicing. This unique feature ensures that the tape deck's impressive sound qualities will be maintained even after years of intensive usage. Effective DOLBY* B and C noise-reduction systems are standard, giving outstandingly musical results with excellent dynamic range. The T+A developers have equipped the CC 820 M with an extremely effective ATC function: a fully- automatic tape calibration system. This feature adjusts the unit to suit each type of tape. This it does by comparing the results of a complex program which runs for about a minute, using three test frequencies and three equalisers to set the bias and frequency response to the optimum values.
