Just won two of these on that auction place. Anybody used them or got any good info on them?

Sure.
High-end Fuji Type II, first seen early 90's or very end of the 80's. Comparable in price to a TDK SA-X or a XL-IIS, and similar sound and build quality. The ones I have look to be an older version than yours.
I cannot tell the difference in sound between my FR-IIX PRO, or the older FR-II Super or the newer ZII (recently reviewed here). The ZII and the FR-IIX PRO share the same pressure pad design (funky looking spring), hubs, and tape color. All of the tapes perform admirably in my decks but I would rank them behind TDK SA-X just due to the astonishingly low levels of hiss one can get out of the TDK without Dolby.
I openly wonder if Fuji used the "PRO" designator to glom onto the success of tapes like the Sony UX-PRO that was also popular at the time?
One interesting thing about the examples I have is that they have heat resistant shells -AND- cases, always useful if you happened to throw a tape on the dashboard of your car during a hot summer. I hadn't seen that feature since the old LORAN cassettes of the late 70's and early 80's.

I just got the two I puchased in today, but am hesitant to open one. Thanks for the info. I'm going to look at them for awhile.

Hahahaaa, how about watching one of them as they spin in your recorder? A little more effective.

They look rare but promising.

Hi Scorpion,
I have nothing to add to JXBJXB's analysis. Herewith the a quick report (Sept ’92) on the JPIIxPro Extraslim (analagous with the FR series which predated it in Europe and continued in USA). The tapes are therefore the same. However, the IxPro and IIxPro are very different formulas from the Ix and IIx

Recently I bought a a couple of used tapes and there is a FUJI JP II-X PRO among them. Maybe it is time to try and evaluate it. :) *reelspin**reelspin*
One thing I hate is the extraslim case.

After watching Hulk I made a little test in my lab - no monster was born. :D
I recorded some B-52's on it. I know it is not a sophisticated music, but with a lot of highs, bass and the female voice of Kate and Cindy. (If somebody wants I will try with other music.) I made recordings with a lower and a higher bias and recording levels. I experienced no distortion at all. Dynamics is OK, but there is audible difference from the source. I must admit that I am still under the influence of the HD8. That tape is definitely better than this JP-II Pro, but this is better than the BASF type IIs I recently used to record. So no major loss if your copies remain unopened as collectors' items.
Again I used my Aiwa AD-F800 deck - source: Cambridge Audio 640C V2 CDP
