having problem with teac x1000r, bought it as working but not used for few years. fitted new capston belt & freed off pinch roller mech, machine just fast forwards clockwise only & wont rewind. if play is pressed pinch rollers come up & drop back out leaving tape slack. having looked a bit deeper it looks like power/servo board as been bodge repaired & i was wondering if this is the problem? can anybody advise on this please. The control board is most likely where your problem is. Swapping out the whole board would be difficult unless you can get a junk X-1000R from somewhere. The easy thing to do is replace the LC7800 controller chip on the board. It is a 26 pin dip and since the board is single sided it is a easy fix. The chip was made by sanyo and is widely available for about $3. I had a problem with a X1000R and this chip was damaged by someone using a home rigged remote which this chip does tie to along with the front panel keyboard. PS LOVE YOUR MOTORCYCLE RACES. I WILL BE BY SOMETIME IN THE NEXT FEW YEARS!!

thanks for the info, will have a close look at control board & try locate chip in uk first. still a bit concerned about the state of the power/servo board, do you ever get the feeling you opened a can of worms? thanks anyway. IOM Neil.
