Anybody ever actually seen this tape? Check out the following link:
http://openreelgallery.magnetofon.de/brands/sony/frameset.htm
The website is based in Germany, so there are a number tapes shown on this gallery you wouldn't see in Canada or the USA. I would expect that Sony R2R ferrichrome would date from the same era as the cassette ferrichrome...being the 1975-1980 period I would think.
It sure would be interesting to try this tape, but I wonder if you could bias your deck effectively for it...
cheers

Well...if anbody on this planet has one...they are sure to be around tapeheads.net! Why am I not suprised or what.
So...does the tape have that "blueish" colour that the cassette stuff has?
I have a few ferrichrome cassettes I bought back in the 1970s...they still play OK but there are a few around here who have said that they are now dropping flakes off of them...

I have seen Sony FeCr Elcassettes on E-Bay. And I think I remember seeing a R2R also on there.
I have some uesd Sony FeCr cassettes. One I have played after I got it & didn't have any trouble with it. The others I have just gotten & not played yet. But don't expect any trouble at the moment when I play them.

Those were the tapes that the high end Sonys used to get their ridiculous high end with - out to just about 50khz on the TC-880-2 deck, and it's close relatives. Some Sony tapes are known for Sticky Shed Syndrome, but I'm not sure these are.
