hello all, in my collection of many receivers i have a few rare ones, this is about my pioneer sx-2000 tube receiver,
i got this receiver from an old g-i that told a very unusual tale about how he happend to aquire it, a story of blood, guts, and violence!. this was about 10 years ago when i got it so im going on memory here and thats it anyway here we go!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------Summer 2000, i was working with my dad doing property apprasial and we went to take photos of an old orange grove with a house on it, when we got there we were survaying the land and i discoverd an old dilapidated barn full of old dusty junk, i went inside and discoverd a dusty dirty old pioneer sx-2000 tube receiver coverd in chicken poop and cob-webs, i picked it up and brought it outside, around that same time the property owner showed up and him and my dad disscussed business, after 15 minutes or so i asked him about the receiver and if he would part with it, turns out the orange grove owner was a veitnam combat vet who served around from 1966-1968 out there, anyway he said i could take it but "it has blood on it," ill never forget those words! he told me he him and his squad invaded a enemy camp and found this receiver next to a pyle of dead bodies and that was coverd in blood! why he took it home with him is still a mystery to me. anyway i gave him $5.00 for it and went about my day. that night i got it home and checked it out and to my delight it came right on and played! after about 2 cans of tuner spray and a huge amount of other cleaners it looked great and sounded better, anyway i found out threw other stereo gurus that this model was scarsly produced and is EXTREMELY rare! only a handfull known to exist rare!!
anyway i dont know if ANYTHING i was told was truthful but id love to know if
there is any fact in this, maybe just an old vet trying to pull my leg but who really knows?
