Well I have done my bit to help earn my place in that higher plane when my time comes.
I got wrapped up in a bunch of stuff at church, particularly the music ministry.
Our organ had been restored but the carillon system went kaput and they just shut it down. I stumbled across while doing some stuff in the attic and found the controller unit. Long story short I rebuilt the power supplies and installed an amp switching system to power the amps only when needed. After 2 years of silence the bells ring again. As an added bonus I discovered that the organ is tied into the carillon system and the organist can play the carillon in the church and outside. According to one of the older patrons it had not functioned in several decades. and at the first service all were surprised at the new sounds to the music during services.
The other was aquisition of a Yamaha C7 conservatory grand piano. Delivered yesterday (cant wait to hear it Sunday) It replaces a horrible upright.
Could you believe that there were a few folks complaining that we wasted all that money on such a "black elephant" *fm* ! What a bunch of narrow minded buffoons.
We had also planned to remove the carpet that these same fools installed (as part of our 75th ann. spruce up) and they were told not to but did it anyway. They really are causing a stink about that so it will stay for now. Too bad as it is really killing the acoustics in the church. I've never seen carpet in a church.
Oh well, I know these are not pieces of audio gear, but they do make nice music. Especially since our new organist is a Julliard trained virtuoso.
