Hi, as you probably know, Nando (Elite-ist) and some other TH members have a nice thread going for tape mix swaps on this site.
At present, I don’t have a cassette deck capable of producing good quality recordings but would like to do a MiniDisc mix swap with anyone who would be interested.
I've already sent a mix md to Nando and he has kindly agreed to do the same for me even though I know he is busy making mix tapes for other members.
As with the Traveling MD project, the MD would be recorded in real time and not using any software: ie, ‘Sonic Stage’, keeping as close as possible to the spirit of a mix tape.
I know some people may not be MD fans but I think this would be another way of keeping the spirit of the mix tape going.
I like all kinds of music except opera, hip hop and techno etc.
My mix md would include mostly rock, always something from Rory Gallagher and Thin Lizzy and some other Irish artists, some country and whatever else would be on the go in the house at the time!
Sources would be vinyl, cd, cassette and open reel.
The only thing I would ask is, to try and give some explanation (even one sentence) for you choices.
It could be just something about the band, where you were you heard the track for the first time, or what the music reminds you of.

I received the track listing of Pat's Mix MD ahead of receiving the MD. I'm looking forward to hearing it. There is new music to me on it, and Pat included a few tracks of artists he knew I enjoyed from my participation in his Traveling Mix MD (http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=14072). And one particular track was a recording from CD onto open reel, so I'll be interested in how this track turned out. There is something special in a recording made from CD onto open reel that improves the transfer from digital to analog. Those who have done this will know what I'm speaking of.
Nando.

Thanks Nando I hope you will enjoy the Mix MD.
I agree that a recording from cd to open reel can sound just simply, nicer, in most cases.
The track I chose from open reel is a live track with just piano and closely miked vocal, but this track never fails to raise the hairs on the back of my neck,it just sounds so personal.

Pat: I'm already mentally compiling a list of similar acoustic live tracks I have in mind for your mix MD. I listened to them last night and I'm sure to include at least two from this famous Canadian artist.

thinking ahead, how do we do this whole thing? do we make a list of what we have to offer and TH'ers chime in to get on the list?
right now my offerings are...
sinatra compilation from cd's
bigband compilation from cd's

I've been following the Mix Tape thread, http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=7251 and the members there have great ideas for mix tapes.
They are discussing a glam rock mix at present, now thats one I'd like to do!
So I suppose the idea would be to try and tailor something to entertain and educate the recipient of your mix MD, keeping in mind their tastes.

well. if its a compilation YOU made you should be able to make a digital copy of it from one deck to another without copy protection issues. i propose that sending a digital copy MD of a mix MD you already have be acceptable.
this way you can share without giving up your disc.
Glantoir
11-26-2011, 07:15 PM
Yes thats a good possibility. If you make an analog copy then copy protection won't be an issue at all.

Mix MD exchange seems an interesting idea and recording MDs is easier than cassettes (no need to be exact with the time), though i have almost no creativity when it comes to music and my reason for recording songs would be "because I like them". I have a fair amount of records and tapes, what music would you like? I have a lot of songs I like, they all would not fit in a MD, even after applying your filter (no opera, techno ...). I can record some Lithuanian songs I really like too :). The sound quality may vary (as my records and tapes are in various conditions, the ones that contain the songs I like are more worn, since I play them a lot).

I think you can get a feel for what the other person might like from their old posts etc and then, from that, you could make a specific mix that you think/hope they would like.
I know they may not like everything on mix but you won't know unless you get some feedback from them.
I think its good to comment on any mix you get and equally so, I think its good to include some reason why you include the particular tracks on your own mix.
On the other hand we could go for a specific theme, maybe, Hard Rock, Glam Rock, hits of 80's etc. What do you think?

Hi Istvan,
The 'Traveling Mix MD' package includes an MD of Irish pop & rock music and all going well, it should be with you in 2012.
If you are interested in any particular style I could concentrate on that for you.
My particular favourite would be hard rock ie Thin Lizzy,Rory Gallagher.
Another side to this exchange/swap would be getting a chance to hear recordings from somebody elses t'table, tape deck etc. and give a good indication of their sound.
I always listen to my completed mixes/compilations to try and make sure they kinda flow from track to track rather than just sticking them all on in no particular order.
At present I'm working on recording a Classic Hard Rock compilation onto open reel and then transferring onto md later.

I think this one would be better. Something like the period or whatever. While I cannot recognize most of the genres, I can look at the year written on the record :) So, we could go for a specific time period :).

Or 70's New Wave,The Stranglers,Sex Pistols,The Clash?

David Bowie sings some form of Rock? But his songs are very different from what I though as rock (Queen for example). That just shows how I know almost nothing about various genres.
But from that list I only have maybe one or two tapes of David Bowie (I could have others on some tapes that have no track listings, but I have no way of knowing that).

What do you prefer in exchange? Glam/New romantic or Hungarian stuff or anything else?
My CA CDP has developed one channel off problem so source is vinyl only or I can hook up my Philips CDR/CDP and use my Onkyo MDP's DAC.

Sorry, I missed your previous post.
Anything except Jazz, techno, hip-hop, basically, something older.
I can make a mix MD of Lithuanian older pop songs (now here, I have quite a lot of tapes and records). What would you prefer - more songs by a single artist or more variety (only one song of each artist)? I probably have 70s - 90s covered quite well (and also some 78rpm records), but I usually do not look at the year the record was made, just the artist and the song list (to minimize duplicates).

A tape or a MD (most likely MD, but just to confirm)?
Yes, please include Hungarian songs. I have a few records (and records copied to tapes) with Hungarian music (namely, Omega and Koral, probably others) ann they sound great.
I will type the track information, but I will use sonic Stage for that - I am not a masochist to try to type all song titles using the remote of my MD recorder.
Also, what format do you want - SP (MD) or Hi-SP (Hi-MD)? I could also do PCM, but that would limit the time to ~23 minutes.

Or your MD recorder cannot be connected to a PC. I tried typing in a song title a couple of times and decided that instead of doing it, I could type them in a PC and do something more interesting, after all, the data on the MD will be exactly the same, so what's the point?

I hope the MDs have arrived to Pentium100 by now. I sent two: one is a mix from the prerecorded MDs I have. I did not include any track from the Spicegirls album :) It is interesting to see that there are big differences in quality and sometimes hard clipping distortion occurs. The second MD is a mix of Hungarian rock: actually four different LP sides, both classic and alternative rock. I hope you like them!
Pentium100
12-23-2011, 04:26 PM
No, they still have not arrived - usually around this time, the post office gets overloaded, so all packages are delayed. Your MD is almost finished. I think I will send one at first, then I will ask you which artists or songs you like more and I will record another MD.
I have too many songs to choose from, so this way it will be a bit easier to record the second MD :) (as before now I have never recorded a mix anything for anyone other than myself, I have recorded some tapes and CDs for people, but they told me what to record).
On the other hand, I have almost nothing to record for Glantoir. I even went to the record store with a list and found nothing on topic.

Hi Pat,
That's not a mess. I'm going to guess you may have closed the mix with a classic from NY. And no: not NY, NY by FS.
Technical question for you: For recording digital sources to MD, do you use the optical cable from the output of your CDP (if so equipped) directly into your Sony MD recorder's optical input? I found the sound quality was better using my Tara Lab Spectrum 3 analog cables to patch my Sony 7XESD into my Pioneer Elite C-72 preamplifier, and then routed through my dbx400X router and into the analog input of my Sony MD recorder. In other words, I only used the analog side of my digital source and MD recorder.

I spent last night taking all the CDs from my Pioneer carousel changer and reinserting them back in their jewel cases. The changer holds 301 CDs, and I had about 60 of my favourites loaded up in there, before I decided to begin using the Sony. I reworked a little wiring, and I'm hoping I receive some better cabling from a friend before the end of this week, before I start recording your mix MD.

Hi Nando,
I always use the analog connections from my CDP (Sony CDP XB 930) to the MD recorder (Sony MD JB-940) even though it has both toslink and co-axial outputs.
To my ears it just sounds better.
Antun, I think it was, mentioned the JB-940 will record in 24 bit from an analog input/source.
You guessed right about last track, but don't 'start spreading the news' just yet! *grin*

I completed all the necessary changes to the MD this morning, including editing, track titling, and shuffling a couple of tunes around.
I may draft up a sheet track listing before mailing it out tomorrow.
There is a definite theme to this compilation:

Nando's Mix-MD arrived today.
I put it into my RH1 and went for my morning walk.
Gosh, but,the recording of 'For The Last Time' by Rory Gallagher from vinyl, sounded great!! I would already know this track from the album 'Deuce' but I only have the remastered version on CD. The sound from vinyl is really special!
I've listened to the MD just once and after a few more play's will give more f'back.
I actually have NY's 'Live at Massey Hall' and Nando's choices are excellent, I included a track from it myself on my Mix-Tape for Les.
Thanks Nando for a very thoughtful compilation.

I know some of you reading this have some sort of interest in MiniDisc or have units and may not be using them that much. I am attracted to the format because of its ability to record vinyl and tape so well, (using the SP setting and analog inputs.)
I love to exchange recordings with other TH’s members and MD is turning out to be a nice alternative to tape, while still holding (to some degree) the attraction of a cassette Mix-Tape (some might say more attractions!!) *wink*
What I’m trying to say is why not try and forget all the digital stuff and try and look on your MD recorder as you would your cassette deck and use it to record some vinyl or tape and maybe get involved in a Mix MD with other members here.
You never know you might get reeled in! *yes*

Hi Pat,
Thank you for your comments. I think we have really similar taste in music, so it's not difficult to decide which songs should go on your Mix MD. I intend to do a full write-up an evening this week on our Mix MD exchange, as I wanted to give full credit to a wonderful mix you created for me. I liked it so much, that two of the songs from that particular MD made it onto Scott's (braxus) cassette mix tape I recorded for him last week.
And I do have a great appreciation for the MD format. I commented, elsewhere, how recording to MD has the same feel as recording to cassette. Just a lot more flexibilty and many more options to MD, than cassette recording. Who wouldn't want that?
Nando.

You go to great lengths to entertain us with your excellent pictures and detailed posts of your recording sessions, and in doing so,give clues to your musical tastes.

When you post up comments, pictures and track lists we can all enjoy the effort and more importantly get an idea of the posters personal taste in music.

Hello everyone,
Thanks to Pat, I feel I can improve my MiniDisc recording skills as I become more accustomed to this format. Pat spearheaded the Traveling MiniDisc project (http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=14072), and because of this endeavour there are a few more Tapehead members who are becoming involved with MiniDisc exchanges, who might not have done so, before now.
I received Pat's Mix MD in early December, and with his Mix MD I received a beautiful Christmas card and a gift blank MD.

From the opening track, I knew this MD would be special. Little River Band is a band both Pat and I have enjoyed for a long time. This live recording from the "Backstage Pass" record is one of my favourites. And it kept getting better going into the MD. My personal favourites are from Thin Lizzy, Willie Nelson, Rory Gallagher, and Mark Knopfler. The outstanding track recorded live of Juliet Turner's "Pizza & Wine" is spine-tingling. I want to hear more of her. This tune is going to make the circulation to other Tapeheads, I'm sure.
It may be awhile before I can commit to the next MD exchange with Pat, but I'm certain it won't be too long. Anyone who would doubt the quality of the recordings made to MD from either analog, or digital sources, should try it out. I'm converted to MD, as an alternative to analog cassette. I am not ready to replace cassette as a format, but I sure anticipate becoming more involved with MD.
Thanks so much for creating this outstanding Mix MD for me, Pat!
Nando.
(I'll be posting pictures and commentary of my Mix MD recording for Pat, shortly)

I’m just about ready to do a practice mix MD myself. I have everything setup and ready to go. I do want to do a quick fix on my Turntable as I think the belt is dragging on something during part of the revolution, I can hear it when playing, It’s a quick fix though, I know what it is as it’s done it before.
I like the little River Band also. I bet that’s a great sounding MD.

Hi Jeff, its good to hear you are getting to grips with your MD recorder. I have to say I very much enjoy putting together a Mix for somebody else, especially if I have an idea what music they like listening to. Nando and myself have very similar musical tastes and because of his ability to give such clear and detailed f'back its easy to get it 'kinda' right.
Let us know what you think of the results of your first recording?

Hi Jeff,
I'm more than happy to provide the pictures and commentary, as it can help entice a few more members into participating in MD exchanges. My biggest worry, when contributing towards the Traveling MD, was accidentally erasing a previous track made by another member. But, there's, even, an "Undo Edit" feature for that on my deck, if it did happen, provided you didn't wait too long.
I'm thinking of combining analog and digital processes into one of my next cassette mix tapes. I want to record all my selections onto MD to create a master and juggle the tracks around, or even use some sound processing to liven up the mix, before recording in one continuous recording for each side of the cassette tape.

Hi all,
This was my first MiniDisc exchange with another Tapehead member. I had a little familiarity with MiniDisc recording, as I was an early signer-up to Pat's "Local Heroes-National Treasures"-themed Traveling MD which began in late August of last year. Before this, I had spent a couple of hours of MiniDisc recording directly from my X brother-in-law's synthesizer using a mini optical cable connected to my Sony portable: a Net MD Walkman MZ-N510. He has composed some very nice instrumental tracks, of which I saved a few.
Pat had introduced me to some artists I hadn't heard of before. Rory Gallagher and Paul Brady were but a few that stuck in my mind when I was sorting through records at my local thrift shop/flea market. I managed to find an album of each of these artists. Luckily enough, the Rory Gallagher tune, "For The Last Time" struck me as one I figured he would have, just maybe not in vinyl.

http://i768.photobucket.com/albums/xx322/vintagevet/Pat%20MiniDisc%20Mix%202012/DSC06788.jpg
From there, I settled on keeping to a guitar-themed MD, both acoustic and electric.

Hey!... That would be great Pat…..I’m ready any time. No rush thought, if you’re working on other projects.
I’m thinking instead of doing a test MD though, I might just as well start an MD for you.
As for me some LRB and some Rory Gallagher and Thin Lizzy would be great. I’m not fermilure with Rory Gallager’s music. I know I like some Thin Lizzy songs though. And put anything you like on there.
I would like to make yours a real mix of stuff. You know, everything from Sergio Mendes & Brasil '66 to Grand Funk Railroad, with a little western & classical thrown in just for kicks. I think I know you like fairly hard rock guitar though, so I would use a fair bit of that in case you didn’t like the other stuff. If I’m wrong let me know and maybe we should send each other lists of the groups we seem to like to get ideas on what to record for each other. *reelspin*

I’ve listened to Nando’s Mix Md a few times now and must say I enjoy it more every time I listen to it.
The Rory Gallagher track ‘For The last Time’ (on vinyl) opens the MD and I knew from there it was going to be a good compilation.
The next 2 tracks were by Anderson,Bruford,Wakeman,Howe, (on vinyl also) and although prog rock would not really be my cup of tea normally, on repeated listening I found I was humming along to ‘Brother Of Mine’
I was originally listening on my Sony RH1 but today I went out with my R900.
The R900 has a better (to my mind) bass sound and it was able to really bring out the big circling drum sound on ‘Brother Of Mine’ and this really clinched it for me.
I really liked ‘Some Velvet Morning’ by Gabor Szabo from open reel. I’d never heard of Gabor Szabo before, but this a really nice instrumental track.
I also really enjoyed ‘Bring It All Back’ & ‘Long Time Running’ by Tragically Hip (I ordered ‘Road Apples’ on Amazon today)
The drummer can really hit the skins hard!
I enjoyed all the tracks but these were my particular favourites.
All the tracks on the MD sounded great especially the ones from vinyl.
Again thank you Nando for a very thoughtful and carefully executed Mix MD.

OK Pat,
I’ll start gathering up some stuff you might like. I think most of it will be from vinyl as I have a lot more records than CD’s. I will probably half to grab something off CD, cassette tape & maybe R2R tape also. I could try and grab something off 100.7 KSLX, they play vintage rock. I don’t think I have ever recorded from radio before. I could start the MD at the beginning of every song and just pause it each time if it’s not a song I want and with MD it would be easy to edit later. Their playing “Pink Floyd” right now. I've been burning in the Concept 6.5 receiver and it's sounding great, I’ll be using that and the Sony JB930 for the recording.

Thanks for the feedback, Pat. I had hoped the Tragically Hip would be a good "closing" to the MD Mix. I could introduce you to a few other Canadian bands you may not have heard of before. If you were to recommend your favourite Rory Gallagher LP, which would it be? It isn't easy finding used vinyl of his repertoire. The RG LP I recorded from did have some static I couldn't overcome in the recording, unfortunately.
I may even query you before creating the next Mix MD for you. There are some popular bands you know of, but I'm not sure if you've heard some of the particular songs I have of them.
My formula for cassette mixes is fairly consistent: an equal number of digital and analog sources to be recorded, at least one live performance, and always a Canadian band or artist(s) featured. I try to open with a good, lively tune, usually a pick of the recipient's favorite band, or artist, and close with a tune which is laid back. If it fits with the tempo I'll sqeeze in an instrumental track, too.
As always I can't wait to entertain the next Mix MD exchange with you.

Agreed Nando, I think its good to draw in the listener with something familiar, and then move on with some new music, but not too much, before getting back to something more familiar again.
As to Rory Gallagher albums, well they are all pretty good, but for me, the ones I would bring to 'The Desert Island' would have to be 'Live In Europe' and 'Calling Card'
'Live In Europe' is fantastic,(You would already have heard 'Pistol Slapper Blues' from it) ..its such an atmospheric recording and you get such a sense of being there. At the start of the first track 'Messing With The Kid' just before he starts playing, you can hear him turning up the volume on his guitar and from there its all business.
If there was ever an album that demands the volume to be cranked up this is it.
'Calling Card' I think,is a classic also, although a lot of older Rory fans were not that fond of it.
It was co-produced by Roger Glover and Rory in 1976 and I don't think there is a weak track on it.
My generation would say Rory is best heard on vinyl and the little bit of static on 'For The First Time' only added to the pleasure of listening to it.
I will record both these albums for you on MD is you like.

I am glad you received them!
All the information is on the MDs regarding artists, songs and year.
When I finally packed them I was away from any MD decks or portables and I *withstupid* chose two identical discs so I was unable to write on them. Anyway I hope you like them. The other is a selection of Hungarian artists. Instead of making an MD or MC I copied the Kolinda compilation album as a CD-R. If you are interested we can continue the exchange later this year.
I was listening your mixtape again this afternoon. I really like Horslips, especially the opening track. The other songs are also really nice. Sound quality is superb! Thank you!
edit: I "had" to get side B of The Book of Invasions as well, so I made an accompanying MD with it plus some other Irish tunes :) It is interesting to see that in the 1970's musicians not only rediscovered but also reinterpreted their musical heritage. Kolinda did the same with Hungarian music as Horslips with Irish. There was also a growing interest of anything Irish or "Celtic" in the 1990's here in Hungary, so we know there are not just Pogues and Corrs...

I'm glad you liked Horslips as I am a big fan and have almost all their albums vinyl & CD.
They can play traditional Irish as easily as rock, and back in the early seventies the trad purists really hated the direction Horslips were taking 'their (the purists that is) music'.
Thanks to Horslips I and many of my friends developed a love of traditional Irish music.
If you would like some more Horslips music let me know!
I'm still listening to your MD's there is such variety on both of them.
Some of the music on the Hungarian Artists MD is very intense *eyepop*

Some of the music on the Hungarian Artists MD is very intense *eyepop*
You probably think of "Vágtázó Halottkémek" ("Galloping Coroners") - their music is also inspired by traditional heritage.
The purist vs. reinterpreted music debate is something we still have here.

Yesterday, I received Pat's recordings of a couple of classic '70s Rory Gallagher albums: "Live In Europe" (1972) and "Calling Card" (1976). These MDs, from a THs member, will be the first to debut on my Pioneer Elite MJ-17D. I'm looking forward to some guitar riffs from one of Ireland's most notable blues-rock multi-instumentalist, and fast-becoming a favourite artist of mine.
I'm going to pick up some Guiness Draught before giving these albums a romp on the system. Thanks for the Guiness beer coaster, Pat... it's a nice keepsake.

I have good experience with Guiness Pub Draught. Last year, I got a tip from a friend which led me to this Pioneer PL-630 turntable, which I've been using since buying it. For the tip, all he wanted was his favourite beer. It's one of the best deals I ever made for a Pioneer component.
I wish all deals were like this:
Phone call: $2.78
Dozen Imported Guiness Pub Draught: $27.70
Pioneer PL-630 Turntable: Priceless!

The CD is (I believe) a local group, the MD contains another Horslips LP. Pat introduced me this fantastic and important Irish rock band and there are many more albums of them to explore. Thanks again for the surprise pack!

Pat: I recorded "Greendale" last night onto MD. I have to title the tracks, yet. How do you make your custom MD labels? I'll photocopy the cover art of the CD I recorded from, so you can transfer the image to a label for the MD. I'm contemplating sending a cassette mix tape to play on your Pioneer CT-737 MKII. Which brand of tape sounds best on it? I could be wrong, but there may be some music on the cassette which you might not have heard, and don't customarily listen to, but will give your deck a workout to reproduce.

We both found, its interesting to include some snippets of local radio from your location/country, (especially the adverts and in-between tune banter!).

I've been lax in not providing updates to what I have been doing MD-wise. I'll try to catch up this weekend. Both Pat and Istvan have sent me Mix MDs I didn't provide feedback on. Since receiving Pat's most recent MDs of Rory Gallagher, I managed to seek out and find two RG albums. One of the songs from one of the albums I found made its way onto Ben's (Parnelly) cassette mix tape, which I completed a few weeks ago. Istvan had created some great MDs for me, which I'll feature, later.
They look great.

Hi all,
"Long overdue, but not forgotten" may become my motto. I received a pair of MiniDisc mixes from Pat over two months ago. Both MDs were exclusively of Rory Gallagher. The "Calling Card" is one of those albums that is spirited and is without a track that's not a favourite. All of the selections were from Rory's work of the 70's to early 80's. The tracks recorded from LP sounded wonderful, and Pat advised me the Live album would be not be quite as good as "Calling Card" for sound quality, but I found the energy made up for a little less sq than the studio album. Besides "Pistol Slapper Blues", "Going To My Hometown" has a quirky intro, but develops into a crowd-stomping track.
I bought two RG LPs recently, "Top Priority" and "Stage Struck." Since exchanging music with Pat, I've had a growing appreciation of RG's work, and I now like to look for more of his albums and share a few of his tracks with other members who receive my mix tapes. Definitely, Rory Gallagher's music will be part of my next "Beer-Drinking Mix Tunes - Another Round" compilation.
I hope to duplicate Pat's method of creating labels for MiniDiscs. And he has already set me up for Happy Hour with a memento in the form of a Guinness beer coaster!

Thank you, Daren. Pat has got a handle on making labels, and I will experiment soon with some custom ones.
As far as inputing text into the MD deck: practically, anything you would include in a J-card can be typed into the Table Of Contents. On my MD Mixes, I type in a salutation at the beginning of the disc, then track title, artist, source of recording, date of original recording, and sometimes cap it off with an send-off comment at the end of the disc. And to boot, I can hook up a keyboard directly to the Sony. It's just that easy!

Sounds like you have really taken to our Rory!
Did I mention Rory borrowed Pete Townsend's electric sitar for the track 'Philby'!
I think the ability of some MD decks to accept a keyboard makes life so much easier when titling your MD's and you can also use it as a remote control to play, search etc, plus some editing features like divide, move, erase. Both my decks have this capability.
TBH I'm just starting to get a grip on the customization side of things but it's certainly
worth the effort as MD's can be pretty bland naked *grin*

You are welcome, Pat. Sorry about the delay in getting a review done on your Mix MDs. Nowadays, I like to feature audio/video clips with most of my submissions when doing a review, or feedback, because there may be interest by other members who might be unaware of these artists. And it's a fun way to share some tunes!
I have about 5, or so, MDs which have been recorded to for Masters, but I only have sticky-notes for labels.
Although I completed your NY "Greendale" MD, I'm waiting to record a cassette mix tape for your deck before mailing them both out. I'm sorting through my tunes to identify which tracks will make it a memorable mix. Who knows, I may introduce you to a few more "new-to-you" Canadian artists.

Great review Nando!
Well I just finished listening to side A of the tape Pat sent me and WOW!!... I like it!... Some great “rock and roll”. I don’t think I had ever heard any of the songs before, and I liked some more than others "of course" but the whole side was the kind of music you just can’t sit still to. I was taping my feet, movin’ my legs and just really getting into the beat. It just seemed to get better and better as it played.
Of course I know the names of several of the performers, Mark Knopfler, Chet Atkins, Mungo Jerry, Los Lobos, Bryan Ferry.
I like that "Long Legged Woman Dressed In Black". I wonder if that's intended as a play on a famous Hollies sons. *scratchchin*
