Wow, just noticed I got photo of the day here! Thanks Matt!!!
There is an interesting thread on Audio Asylum's Vinyl forum right now about the open reel format. As usual, I find myself in the heat of battle. *headache*
If anyone wants to chime in, please feel free to do so:

Hi Joel,
I see you got yourself in a hornet's nest with those guys. I think that it is great of you to try and convince people about the tape format, but most just are not hearing it. Do your self a favor and listen to your music more, shame on them if they put all the time and money into their systems and refuse to try and put the best source into them as well.

Hi Jay,
Thanks for the response. Yes, its always a hornets nest on the Vinyl asylum! But, you have to try, right? Trust me, if I hadn't said what I said in that thread, things would have gone SOUTH quick. People would think you'd have to spend the 20k Mike L did on the Studer (or the 7.5k he did on that Technics) to achieve better then LP performance and that would just not be a fair assesment. I know you know that!!
That thread would have only had like 6 responses of things like, "cool, glad you like it but open reel is too rich for my blood if it costs 20k to beat my vinyl!!" and that would have been that. Instead, I think the thread is up to 80 responses (though 20 are probably from me) and it may make people think it through more.
My philosophy is, the more people that take interest in open reel, the better for us all. But yes, you're right, the fight is not one to spend a whole lot of time on but I'll take my jabs where I see fit.
I also plugged this site in the thread, so maybe we'll get a few folks to join---who knows.
Any new TP tapes show up for you? I'm still waiting for my Exotic Dances and now it looks as if the Waltz for Debbi is finally getting somewhere too.

Joel,
I am in the same bucket as you, just waiting for the next one or two however they come. To date I only have the first two, J.N. and D.A.
I can't wait for the debbie and sonny tapes, those two alone were for the most part why I got into this project.

Grrrrrr.....get 'em tiger.
It's always better when all parties know mostly what their talking about....from their own personal experience and knowledge.

Yes, that's part of the problem there. Those guys know their vinyl but when it comes to the reels, it's kind of hopeless. A few of them knew what was up which was cool!

YES, a miracle! But throughout my enthusiasm I try to keep it civil myself.
I know a few of the heavy-hitters (well not KNOW, but trade emails offline) on VA so they usually have my back if/when things get dicey. I think that keeps me afloat. I sure wasn't expecting that thread to reach 90 posts when It started, although a good 20+ of them are mine. I need to defend the reels!!!!! *reelspin*
