The mail lady delivered it today. I watched her toss it around in the truck and then drop it on the concrete porch. I didn't say a word. I know from past experience that it would do no good. The only damage I found was a broken VU meter bulb that I know worked when it was shipped. I had some on hand and replaced both of them.
After a thorough cleaning and demagnetizing, I tried a tape. The right channel is fine, but I get nothing but loud hiss from the left channel. The left meter doesn't move. Any suggestions as to how to troubleshoot this problem? It's not high end and I don't have much money in it, but it's a nice visual match with my other TEAC and Marantz gear. I'd really like to get it to work.
