Preamp quit responding to IR remote

Any ideas on how to trouble shoot a remote control issue.

I worked a few days ago, batteries ok,
ir repeater indicates remote is transmitting something" but nothing registering at the amp.

I guess I could connect a scope to the remote and take a look and also at the receiver but not quite sure what I'd be looking for.


any how to's or other reference material on the how and why these things work or in my case don't?
