Anybody had this problem?

I repaired a Ted Nugent tape that was given to me and popped it in. It sounded amazing. One of the best sounding 8-tracks I've heard until I get to track 4. Track 4 has a loud crackling/static like noise through the whole tape. I've had several others do this too. It only happens on track 4. I've not had this problem on any of the tapes I bought new years ago, only on a few used ones I've gotten recently. What gives? Any ideas?

I would guess that its possibly the way this one tape runs over the head on that track. I've got a couple tapes that do this, only on one player though and track 3. On my other players it plays great all the way through. Have you tried it on another player. Some tapes have been played so many times that they are just tired.

Larry, I don't have another player to test these tapes on. It's weird that the other tracks sounded so awesome and then the 4th was so messed up.
