"ELECTRIC DREAMS" (MGM/UA,1984)

hey again, all!! just wanted to ruminate on this delightful movie from 1984, "ELECTRIC DREAMS" i grew up on this movie, and have always enjoyed it. it has a fabulous soundtrack, excellent PB material for any system!! one great song after another!!!! for my entire childhood, all i had was a single VHS recording off of HBO or the like. less than ideal sound. fortunately, in the late '90s i was staying up at my grandma's in my hometown of birth, Portland, OR. when we swung by a now-defunct privately owned used video shop that was known as "MOVIES 2 SELL" (the very same place in fact where several years later i got all of the hollywood movie Laserdiscs i currently own in a 75% off closeout) anyway, i happened upon this "RICK'S PICKS" stand of uncommon movies, and lo, i found the movie that i'd looked so long for!! a 1984 original VHS release!! now i'm sure that fellow THers will perfectly understand the special kind of fanatic lunacy that it takes to drive a person to drop $22.00 on a twenty year old VHS cassette!!!!

to be perfectly honest, to me, at least, there is one other very special thing about this movie, besides the music. something that took me until my adulthood to notice, let alone appreciate. the main character's love interest, "Madeline Roberstadt" goes out with the principal character, "Miles Harding" about 2/3 of the way into the movie. she leaves with him wearing this BEAUTIFUL white blouse/skirt set that i instantly fell in love with. not long after that first time of noticing her, i set to work on a replica for my Princess. i am not sure if i got it 100% accurate, but without my MITSUBISHI HS-413UR VCR and that expensive used video, i am sure i would never gotten as close as i have. see for yourself...

as yet, i only have the soundtrack as a CD-R hybrid of high-quality MP3s and straight Hi-Fi stereo recordings from the VHS via my ROLAND BOSS BR-1180CD. someday i hope to remedy that and get the CD and LP. BTW, does anyone know if this movie was ever released on Laserdisc? i'd DIE for a copy on laser...

Crap, I've got 'Philip Oakey & Giorgio Moroder' on LP A&M/Virgin from '84, bought it new, lot's of great music!! I'd forgotten my old girlfriend Elizabeth Daily sang backup on it *hearts**hearts*.

Philip Oakey was the male lead singer for Human League, Giorgio was the disco man behind Donna Summer's 'I Feel Love' and a gazillion others, Elizabeth Daily had a couple dance hits in the 80's and was Pee Wee Hermans girlfriend (and mine) in the movies. I've not seen the movie, the above LP is a must have though *drool*.
