Is there a timeline somewhere here on these forums for AMPEX tape?
Im trying to find out when the 344 was made.

Ampex purchased OrrRadio, manufacturers of Irish tape, in 1959, thus their start in manufacturing magnetic recording tape.

So sometime in the 60's or early 70's?

I have a couple of these and WOW they sound awsome even recording them at 3 3/4ips.
The high frequency they produce at this speed equals 7 1/2 ips almost!
I hope they dont SS on me*hope*

According to the recordist site, it became available in 1973.
