And a happy Sunday to all of you! Todays weekly update is (for me anyway) an exciting one.
The only-but big-change to the site is that at last, after two months, numerous false starts, and delays, the Home Page is finally up and running!
For those of you who have just the forum bookmarked, I suggest you log out and log back in to TapeHeads.Net. You will then see the new front page.
There are a couple of links to follow to get to the forum as well as a couple of other pages. Some of the other pages are still under construction and will be built and expanded upon as time goes by.
A couple of key things I incorporated was an idea "borrowed" from another (non audio) Website was to have an "image of the day" and "interesting discussions". The image of the day will be front and center on the home page and the first thing that everyone who comes to the site will see. And it is linked to whatever post it was included in. And "interesting discussions" is just that: Good, informative topics that I think make for good reading.
So if you'd like to have that pride of place for a day, let's keep those good images coming. If I like it, it will be selected. There is no set criteria and is frankly, decided on my whim. It just has to be well lit, in sharp focus, and show something that epitomizes the spirit of the site. This is NOT a license to become a picture-post-whore. I am looking for quality and not quantity. If on a given day, I don't see anything that I think would look good on the front page, then I'll either pull one out of the archives or substitute one of my own for the day.
I invite you all to spend a few minutes browsing the new pages. I also invite all of you to give me some suggestions and feedback. Give it all: The good, the bad, and the ugly. Tell me what you think I did RIGHT with it as well as what you think is wrong. Be honest. This site isn't just for me. But for all of you as well. So I need to respond to what you guys like. Of course, as with the forums, I can't and won't always implement every single suggestion. But I can assure you that you will at least be heard.
Apart from that, no changes to the forums have been made since last weeks update. Now that the front pages are built and running, I will devote more time to working on those and expanding them.
I guess that's it for now. Certainly a lot for me to work with.
