Hello,
New member here. I just received a Technics RS-TR355 I bought off ebay. I think the azimuth is off on at least one deck, if not both. Is there an easy way to access the adjust screws on the fly because I can't tell? If not, how do you go about adjusting azimuth on this unit?
Thanks.

Hi and welcome to Tapeheads
Have you cleaned and demagnetized the heads, capstans and pinch rollers ?
-For adjust the azimuth, you must have a good cassette deck for make a reference tape (record a 10KHz tone on a blank cassette with Audacity).
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/?lang=fr
Adjustment:
Clean and demagnetize the heads, dismount the windows, play the reference tape and adjust the azimuth screws (use a non magnetic screwdriver) for have the maximum output level (the left screw for adjust the reverse direction and the right screw for the forward direction).
23725
start again for the other direction and the second deck.

Oh, OK I see. I do need to clean and demagnitize. Do you know how to dismount windows because I don't know how and I don't want to break this machine?

On most head-flippers, the left screw is AZ for forward and the right screw is for reverse.
Another way to set azimuth: on a known good deck...record inter-station FM hiss. Play back forward on Technics. Put your amp into mono mode and adjust screw for max high frequency output by ear. Flip tape, play reverse and adjust other azimuth screw.
