LA -- We got two pages 1's instead of a page 3 by the looks of it. Can you correct the post?

Cool test. I never knew this deck had a pressure pad remover. That joins Luxmans K-05 and most Naks for that feature. I was a bit surprised by the Dolby numbers. A 3db difference between Dolby B and S??? On my Aiwa it is rated up to 87 db. 83 isn't bad either. But I never saw Dolby C so high. It usually hovers around 73 db. Wow.

Hi LA - thanks for posting that. Not only is it a fantastic cassette deck in every sense, but it reiterates (among other things) the prowess of Dolby S, which in the four recorders I have that feature it, is a revelation.

Good for you Lady A. If I see one that looks as if it deserves your attention (either of those) I will let you know. However, I'm sure you "already have a search running" (quote: The Matrix.....")
Take care - Marc

Lady Ayeka and others,
CT-S800, I picked it up today at the local Post unpacked and what abeautiful deck, and I said to myself if it sounds as good as it looks then is a heck of a deck. And it sat in my room til' I was back from work. The deck came very clean and very new, superb packing. Turn the Accuphase Cd player on pop the Bee Gees Trafalcar Ultra Disc II MFSL and let it warm to do some recording but first... Well after some path cleaning I fire up a prerecorded tape done on my Dragon, no bad, listen some more, I kind of like it. Let me do some recording, loaded a SSMM no dolby just the HX Pro and let me start recording. Well sounds a bit tini, metallic, so I adjusted the Bias to the right, and wow that did the trick, I like it way better was able to control the tini sound without the loss of any high frequency. Let me try another tape. The TDK MA-XG 90's version, crab, amazing, but amazing, another the Vertex, this deck should be fetching 1000.00 or more because the sound is very warm, clean, wide stage, very alive, bass is superb, warm, and holy silky highs and no hiss noise at all. Way I am worry let me turn the Dragon on, put the same tape, no dolby, MMM! still the King. The difference between the 2 is little, but the Dragon is so sweet and detail that you melt and sounds holografic and with bit of reverb that you get in high end systems, I get this with the Accuphase and the Harbeth. But don't get me wrong I can listen to this deck for hours, It better sound good with all the copper and fancy circuit, heads, and looks. Do I sell it to you, let me enjoy it for a week or so and I will let you know, Lady Ayeka you will be very very happy with this deck. I still can believe that it was less than 300.00.

Angel,
$300 for a deck like that is a good deal. It's not a Dolby S deck like the one above, but still Im sure a great deck. John- you should get the deck if you can. You'd be very happy with it.

Lady Ayeka I am in the prcess of evaluating the machine even more, and i will let you know sometime next week if i will give it up, although is hard that's how good is this deck. Sounds amazing, it is very detail and warm, the highs get to the highest octave. Here is a picture in action.

thanks, WP! but even if i could perform a cassette deck repair, which i have never before attempted, i'd still have to pass as that example is of the newer batch, which subsitutes the beautiful longhand "Reference Cassette Deck" with that retarded "ELITE" logo...

The CT- 93 has way to many IC. It is funny to see how everybody claims that their decks are Dragon slayer. Niro Nakamichi has to be in cloud 9 and so am I since it is so flattering that the Dragon is the one to beat.
