Does anyone know if Ampex produced a Moody Blues R2R tape of the album Days of future Past at 7 1/2 ips?

I don't know but I sure hope so. Got the 3,75ips version here, but doesn't sound that great. Guess you got that one already?
Also have "A Question of balance" at 7,5ips and that sounds incredible *eyepop*
Days of Future Passed is a great album.

Yes, but only as a quadraphonic tape.
I treated myself to this tape a few year ago as I picked it up on ebay at the low price of $92. *sigh*

I've seen it go for as much as $250 once.

If you are a Moody Blues fan, you have to get on board with quadraphonic sound.
All of their albums from Days Of Future Passed through Seventh Sojourn is available in quad. It's best on quad reel.
They can be very pricey on quad reel but the more affordable quad 8tracks are fairly common on ebay.
Listening to The Moody Blues on a quadraphonic reel to reel tape at 7 & 1/2 speed is a surreal experience. *eyepop*

10 years ago, I met John Lodge (gosh I am a bad name-dropper) at a book signing and I had him sign my quad 8track of Every Good Boy Deserves a Favor.
He was not only amazed that I had an 8track, but that it was quadraphonic. He knew about the quad release but never actually heard the quad release of his own album.
I jokingly invited him over to listen to it. He said he'd be up for it but had to catch a flight out in a few hours.
Oh well.

Ampex never produced a stereo 7 1/2 IPS copy of Days of Future Passed, but Stereotape did produce a Star Series Twin Pack Days of Future Passed/ In Search of the Lost Chord - 7 1/2 IPS dolby. Very rare.

I am pretty sure my quad pressing is a Ampex tape.
I'll verify this when I get home tonight.

I stand corrected.
The quadraphonic reel to reel of Days Of Future Passed is by Stereotape, not Ampex.
Is there a difference in quality between Ampex and Stereotape?
I have a stereo 7 1/2 speed pressing of A Question Of Balance.
I will hang on to it until a score a quadraphonic pressing.

Stereotape made excellent pre-recorded tapes. Especially their late work. I would rank them equal to or better than Ampex in this same era. One of my favorite pre-recorded tape companies.
