I went to check out a tape deck today and scored a bunch of tapes. Some stuff that I have never seen. My guess is the Realistic and Supertape are junk, The LR audiotape in the blue box is acetate which I guess is most likely a little brittle to be of use today. The Skinner Hirsch & Kaye, fideli-tape & hideli-tape I'm guessing are private labels. The Scotch tapes look pretty old (there are 30 of each scotch tape of the tapes shown).
I also picked up a bunch of 2 Track tapes I think from the 50's early 60's The few I have played sound amazing, and so far everyone has played flawlessly.
Altogether she had over 250 tapes, pre-recorded (commercial) and blank tapes. There were also a bunch of smaller 3" tapes which I believe are letters from someone in Vietnam to home, don't know if I will listen to those or not, they do have a name and address on them so maybe I will try and track down the sender and/or recipient and give them back.
The lady was selling a Akai M-1 Deck, the deck was in pretty rough shape, but if I took the deck she told me that I could have the all the tapes for free. So I paid her the $50 she wanted for the deck, figuring I could sell for parts and maybe fix-up and sell and that the 2 track tapes would be interesting to have, they are my first 2 track tapes.

The Realistic Supertape wasn't all that bad in those formulations, if I recall. Nice score.

I'll check it out, the boxes are in good shape and the tape was stored properly. I think there is about 20 of each of the Realistic Supertapes.
Once I get a chance to go through all the tapes (Scotch, Realistic, etc.) and get the good *headtunes* tapes sorted from the bad *devil* tapes I'll give a few away free here as my way of saying thanks for the help.

I've bought several much older tape collections that contained 1/2 track tapes. As you can see in the photo of one of the covers, they are often labelled as "Inline".
Sure, we would all like to be purchasing 7.5 ips tapes of our favorite artists from the 60's and 70's, but quite frankly, you're going to find a lot of late 50's and 60's artists in most of the collections you find.
Of course, a lot of folks are going to take the most desirable tapes of rock n'roll artists straight to eBay, because most of them will pull big money there!
I also enjoy the cover art on the older tapes. *yes*

The 2-Track tapes sound amazing, some of the music is not really my cup of tea, but the sound is very good they sound as good if not better than some of my best LP's, SACD's or later 4-track tapes. Amazing considering some of the tapes are pushing 60 years old.
I have not had the chance to do much with the other tapes, but hopefully over the next few weeks will be able to sort them out.
