Ask a question about dinky but vital things like my question:
I have a pair of Pioneer CS-33A missing the cap screws for one speaker (i.e. the screws to fasten the wires when not using the jack).
What size is this screw? I tried a couple from a computer to no avail. These are going out to a friends classroom and he tends to give it away for good performance each year so each year I get him a new system.
The eBay seller I found has the same problem...

Those are pilot holes for your drill bit to install banana jacks

Would be interesting but they aren't ultimately mine and when he's done at the end of the school year one of his best students will get the stereo system. He said he could fix the problem. Now I have to resurround a pair of 10" Sony woofers and he will have the other pair he needed (and he owns them already).

Looks like M3 or 4-40. More likely M3. 0.5 is the most common thread pitch for M3.

Was told the Dia. was 3 mm and the places I went to had nothing smaller than 4 mm. My teacher friend used to install car stereo systems and was a Memphis Car Audio dealer. He'll solve it but I wanted to try myself.

I found two screws with black ends and put them on the positive terminal with a washer, thetwo that were there on negative then I found screws to plug up the holes left by the chains they once hung with. May look funny but it's uniform.
Odd thing: 1968-maybe 1970 the speakers used 3 mm terminal screws. My '71 Pioneer gear seems to use 4 mm.

Hello Bezel,
The result is most likely going to be metric type screws. Once you know the size then it is just a matter of buying some or calling Fastenal for some samples. They gave me some samples for the screws I used for the new wood side plates for decks. I have been ordering screws all the time now to replace rusted ones or missing hardware- all M3, M4 and some M5. Head screws may be M2

There is a Fastenal dealer nearby as I understand, Sam but I think I solved the problem for now. Thank you.
