Hey fellow tapers, Got back to my roots with some 1970's gear the last 3 years. When I started the quest I thought I was one of a few:D getting into vintage equipment but after Googling some gear names I found Audiokarma. At the start I was mainly looking for a Yamaha CA-XXXX+CT-XXXX amp and tuner for CD listening, FM and streaming audio off the net. But I got a hankering for some R2R's. I've had good karma with amps, tuners etc... but not with the R2R's. I've bought 5 that worked at first but only one... a Teac 2300s... is in working order. But I didn't give up on tape... since the first of the year I've gotten back into cassettes. First I picked up a Nakamichi CR-2A, then a DR-3 for the bedroom... I said WOW... this works for me. So.... I quested for a couple of CR-5's... one for the main rig and another for the bedroom. And man am I a happy camper!! I got 100 Maxell XL-II 90's from Total Media and I am going to town making tapes from FM and off of Rhapsody.

Also in the past year I got some Yamaha silver faced cassette decks...a TC-520 and a K-1d mainly to play my old cassettes I recorded years ago on a Nak CR-1A I had in the early 1990's. I also have a dbx 400XG Program Route Selector that I still have to incorporate into my system.

So... for my main system I use Yamaha's CA-1000 integrated, a CT-800 tuner, YP-D6 TT, the Nak CR-5A, Sony SCD-CE595, a Entech 203.2 DAC, a Behringer Ultra Curve Pro and stream Rhapsody with a RCA Lyra..... and for speaks a couple of Polk Monitor 50's and there 10" sub.

One of my other hobbies is photography so I like taking pics of my gear, of course, though this one doesn't have my CR-5 in it:p:

And here is my bedroom rig.... a couple of Polk Model 10's are out of the picture again sans the new CR-5A:

Great setups!
That second one looks like it's right next to the bed. If it is, I'm not the only one! Can't get that mighty vintage analog gear close enough.

I actually have a Carvin 12 channel PA head on a piece of 1/2 inch plywood on one side of my bed (it's a king size), that I run tv, dvd & vcr through & my Tascam 424mkIII portastudio & reel to reel decks which I put on another piece of wood, making the bed center of operations. My wife & I have been together since 1971 so she's always been ok with it & loves it too.

Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome! Just like you I just set things up to my likings and usage.

Yes it is right next to my bed. And those Polk Model 10's are great nearfield speaks. I'll have to take more photo's because now that I got those two Nak CR-5's... one for each rig... it brought my level of sound quality to a new high.
