when checking audio transformer primary impedance, do you terminate the secondary with the proper load? does the load on the secondary affect the impedance of the primary?

What has always worked for me when I have an unknown output trans is:

Hook a signal generator to the primary and set it at 1000 hz @ 1 volt.

Measure AV voltage on one of the taps such as the 8 ohm one.

Divide the input by the output voltage and that gives you the turns ratio.

Square that and you get the impedance ratio.

Take that times the output tap you used ie x 8 and you get the impedance of your trans.

Hope that helps.

Yes, proper termination of the secondary is the correct procedure.
