We kind of had that discussion HERE (http://www.tapeheads.net/showthread.php?t=407). Some of us had offered to post some scans of clean vintage J-cards that others could replicate. Haven't seen much action there. Is there a specific card you want? Maybe one of us can do a scan for you so that you can get something a little more authentic as opposed to settling for new generic and sterile ones.

There are only 2 places I know of that still sell pre-printed J-cards, one of them is A To Z Audio, and they might not have them anymore (they were on closeout), and this place:

Try Longs Electronics. I have been meaning to buy some myself for quite awhile.

Only those aren't pre-printed, you have to make them yourself on the computer.

Does anyone know of a place that sells blank J Cards ...

He didn't ask for pre-printed, he asked for "blank j-cards...."

There are only 2 places I know of that still sell pre-printed J-cards,....

You assumed he meant pre-printed, and thus steered your answer that way ....

Only those aren't pre-printed, you have to make them yourself on the computer.

Not that it matters one bit, since there are multiple sources and printed or non-printed he has some options.

No problem. They have tapes also, but not the best prices on tapes. :-?

Seems like a pretty decent price on J-cards, however I need order some and see them in person to decide.

You're right; I just assumed it was regarding pre-printed ones. Yeah, for completely blank J-cards to feed thru your printer, there are dozens of sites, just about any tape warehouse, where you can buy sheets of those.

I'm thinking of ordering a couple hundred next week. If I do buy them, I'll post my opinion of them. Really, how can you screw up a J-card?

You're right probably can't screw one up. And for $6 plus shipping it isn't much to risk.

Oh, am sure I could. Having the printing software that you use makes it a lot easier, especially if they are pre-programmed for the format like Avery types.

Somewhere, there's got to be some cases of those Radio Shack J-cards just lying around. They were sold in 20 packs for $1.49. Heck, they were probably 4/99 cents on closeout when RS decided to ditch cassette accessories.

Take a look at the bottom of the page, near the middle; item# 44-623:

I actually found two packages of them a few months ago, and grabbed them faster than.... well, you get the picture. Except for having them printed with "Realistic" prominently across the spine, they do the job.

I ordered some of the J-cards from Longs Electronics yesterday after procrastinating for a few months.

I have ordered some tapes and a Bulk eraser on closeout many months ago from Longs so I have some experience in ordering from them. They cater more to schools and churches and businesses than individuals, but I didn't have any problems with the two orders I have made form them. In fact they mailed me their 200 page catalog in the mail a few months after my initial order.

In their catalog they have plain and lined J-cards. the plain are $11.95 for 400 each and the lined are $5.95 for 100 each. I ordered two packs of the lined ones. I can take a few pics and post my opinions after they arrive.

Well I got the J-cards from Longs Electronics and they are pretty nice. I like the fact that they have horizontal lines on both sides. They are crimped for easy folding to insert into the cassette boxes and they seem to fit nicely.. I like them. I ordered 200 of them and shipping was around $20.

Here is a link to the Long's Electronics J-cards if anyone is interested.

For my own reference. I wouldn't mind ordering some myself.

Any link for them WP? I wouldn't mind ordering some myself.

Look up at one of his earlier posts in this thread.

Oh well, looks like it's already been updated. Thanks again, WP, for the link. I ordered some & I'll have them when I get home tonight.

I updated my last post with the link. The J-cards were printed by some print shop in Tennessee, which is local to Longs who are in Alabama

Back in the day, I used to just use blank 4x6 index cards to make my own. The width is just right for a standard cassette box.

I'd use a preprinted J card to determine where to draw three heavy lines on the back of the index card with a ballpoint pen, where I needed to fold it - two for the edge of the box, and a third at the top of the front window, so I could fold over the extra length. The ballpoint would put enough of a crease on the back of the index card to ensure a clean edge when I folded it over.

I tried placing an order online. It wouldn't accept a Canadian Province. It kept asking for a US state. So I tried calling the 1 800 number. Doesn't work in Canada. So I got their local number, set up an order, and when he got to the end- it wouldn't accept my postal code on the credit card address info. Somehow this order just doesn't want to go through.

I just got mine today from Long's; they look pretty decent, better than the ones from Radio Shack.

I just tried to order from Long's and it kept faulting out saying invalid credit card info. I know that ain't true. Maybe they have moon-spot issues with their server. Maybe I'll retry tomorrow.

That's what he was telling me. It took the address info at the beginning, but they took the same address info at the end (why ask for it twice)? It wouldn't take the postal code he entered. I ran into an error on the site too, so the system may be indeed down.

Scorp- Keep us informed if it works tomorrow or not. I'd hate to find out their system is vulnerable to something we don't want to know about. Hopefully its just a simple computer error.

Nope. Tried again tonight. Their credit card system is fubar, because it's not recognizing cards I use in everyday life. There must be some other reason (such as a PO Box address or a Zip+4 it doesn't like) but the response system isn't telling me that. I may call them, or I may take my business elsewhere.

After some more calls and more tries on his end- he called the credit card company and did something to make the order go through.

Keep note if anyone ever orders any products from Longs and gives them your email address, you will be bombarded with junk email from this company on almost a daily basis. I had to put them into my spam account since they kept sending emails to me on a constant basis.

I have quite a few different email addresses that I use when I register for things on the internet. I keep my business, personal and junk email addresses separate so I don't have to put up with spam from online retailers on a daily basis. My junk email addresses purge themselves weekly so if I am not expecting any emails the spam gets chit canned before I ever see it.*devil*
