Hey Fairchild. Here is my 1978 R80/7 BMW that I bought new in 1978. Still looks and runs great. This is me and a riding buddy on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Yup
I am Motorcyclist since late 70's.
My average is above 10.000 km / year
Been all around western Europe on two wheels with tent and camp kitchen.
I drove some modest road racing in the late 80's and early 90's.
I had Ducati 900SS, Laverda 500 Montjuice, Morini 350s, Moto Guzzi Le Mans/T4/Falcone, BMW R69S, Derbi's, MZ's, Minarelli's and some other stuff mainly from Italy.
I'm out of two wheels for a short period now but soon it will be either the new BMW F800GS or the Ducati 848.
Can't realy decide on off-road or road-track.
I love both kind of driving.
Prices on Motorcycles in my country are taxed by 180% + 25% on top of the sum of the factory price and dealer profit.
Auch......
I've been dealing motorcycles in DK. Restored veteran and vintage. Fairly small amounts.
So I rode a bunch of different bikes in my time. A lot of japanese, some english, some HD's, even HD Aermacchi's, MV Agusta (the old ones), Husquarna, Bimota etc.
I still frequently attend Italian Motorcycle events in northern Europe and I am still slightly involved in club activity ................but only for the italian brands.
It's in my blood.
So is sailing sailboat.
It's the kind of freedom you experience that's so attractive.
Next project related to Motorcycles is to get my wife the driving licence for two/three wheels so we can drive each our bike for looooooong trips.
Violent rocker related "insignia on the back" motorcycle driving is to me stupid and destructive for the fine culture or motorcycle riding.

Did you ride the Tail of the Dragon while you were there?

Very nice Euro bikes Dolf - I love the Italian marques. I was just now reading up on the restoring of the original "orange" Laverda Jota in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics. I have a near concours condtion 1985 Honda CB-F550F in Candy Red and a new Honda eStorm 125 Integra - for commuting.
Can't live without bikes, dogs, good wine, beautiful women, analogue sound, and pumping iron.
Pics soon

Don't have a picture but I have a 1980 Suzuki GS850GL sitting in the backyard.
It needs a lot of work , it sat neglected at a friends house till I talked him out of it.
I have had many street bikes and used to ride Trials also.
Supercross killed that sport here in the US but it is still popular in other parts of the world.
It is a lot harder to ride sloooow than fast.
