CD 491 New Issue

My HK CD 491 has a new issue. Playback works fine, but for about half an hour after I turn it on, when either monitoring another input source (by turning off the tape monitor), or generating the bias or record calibration tones, only the left channel works (and thus recording only works for the left channel).

After warming up, everything works fine again: the right channel works fine, calibration tones all behave, source monitoring works, records fine.

This has happened consistantly over the last couple of days.

Any clues? Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe this deck has small relays....take a look under the bonnet.

I don't see anything that looks like a relay, but I'm a novice at looking, so they might look differently than I imagine. I've seen similar discussions elsewhere related to channel loss, relays and recommendations for using De-Oxit, so I think I'll start with that and see if things improve.
