Hello,
I just bought some of these new so its a little late to ask but are these decent tapes? The SR 90's seem to work ok and sound good. Thanks for any feedback.

They should be alright. It's the same tape, just 10 minutes longer.

I have had mixed results with the Sony SR tapes myself. I bought some originally back in the 1990s (maybe 1992 or so) that were consistent, OK. They were not in same league sound quality-wise as say Sony Metal Master. In fact I don't think they were quite as good as TDK MAs or even some of the earlier Maxell XL-II-S. The XL-II-S seem to rewind smoother and have a clearer top end. But overall the earlier SR's seem to be reasonably good tape.
In the last few years I have bought some NOS SR's from a local discount store; these are the ones with the green package before you open them up.
Well, the 3 or 4 I have tried all have had some drop-outs, some of them quite a few drop-outs, and the sound overall is not quite as good.
Take in mind I use Sony decks most (but not all of the time) of the time for recording; Sony tapes always seem to record well on Sony decks.
I would say that the Sony UX-Pro tapes (these are type II tapes) I have used definetly sound better, and have no quality inconsistencies (such as drop-outs). Anyhow this is my 2 cents worth...

I think I lucked out on these tapes, they appear to be the older style. Not green but the clear and black packages. I will have to say so far my favorite metal tape is the tdk MA-X. I dont have a lot of experience with metal tapes though. I really appreciate everyones assistance and opinion. Thankyou
