Hi:
Who can service Revox/Studer Cassette Decks in the United States other than the one in TN? I have one whose spinning motors might need to be replaced (being told).
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
Don't you like the guys in TN?
Otherwise, there are a lot of private shops including me but the one I go to for advice on Revox would be Leon Ament in Montreal. He is experienced in that brand and model.

He is also a member here as well.

What do you mean by "spinning motor"? The reel motors can usually be rebuilt. A new one cost as much as a used deck. Jack (JM Technical Arts) will not likely rebuild a motor, but source a new one, so maybe that is the issue. If it's a capstan motor, that's even worse, though they never fail, just wear out after many many hours. Which is it, a B710 or a B215?

Uhh..... Hello?? *rolleyes*
Did Sam forget that I restore Revox and Studer Gear?
The motors can of course be rebuilt.
Yeah, you can forget a new one.... $300 usually for ONE hub motor. Absurd.
I rebuild the entire deck for that!

Hi Tinman:
How can I be able to contact you personally to discuss the re-built of the spinning motors?
Thanks for all the responses.

I can do Revox repairs as well, but I am in Nashville TN, so I guess I'm out. I agree, repair the motors.

If have not had your unit repaired, I can tell you Tinman (Marc) does First Class work. He has my Pop's Revox A-77 MK IV Dolby he has replaced ALL the different caps, heads etc. He is worth the money and the freight cost( I sent from Texas to Calif) as I had looked for months looking for the "Right" person/shop to restore my Late Dad's A-77. Jack at J&M the USA Revox Center is good but really expensive.
I have read posts from other members on several other R2R sites that have nothing but GOOD things to say about Tinmans work.*bigthumbup*
