I have a JVC DD-5J, direct drive cassette deck and would like to tweak the playback speed as it's off a fair amount. Does anyone know how to do it on these direct drive decks? The motor is totally buried so could not see if there is the usual adjustment on the motor. I was hoping for a PCB pot but did not see one.
I looked for a SM but did not have much luck there either.
Thanks,
Robert

Hi Robert,
There is a speed adjustment pot on the left side of the DD motor PCB, accessible from the top of the mechanism, if I remember correctly.

Hi Alex,
Thanks for the note, I'll have to give it another look. I figured there has to be a pot somewhere that one can easily get to being how it is assembled.
Thanks,
Robert

I took another look on both the vertical board pictured and also a smaller board buried closer to the drives but did not see any adjustment pot...
Thanks,

Hi,
The DD motor board is deep inside, below the solenoids - on the top is only the control PCB. I've circled the area where the pot may be. Look in these holes - there should be a speed alignment pot in one of those!

I've found some old photos of my DD-5 DD motor assembly. You can see clearly where the pot is.
Cheers

Thanks very much for your photos....... I'll take another look at that small board as it's really buried in there.
Thanks,
Robert

Thanks ANT
I finally found the pot.... It was totally hidden under a some metal and a piece of rubber blocking used to hold some circuit boards in-place. Ahhh, sounds much better at the correct speed!
