I just demagged the entire tape path on my Teac A-3340S for the first time I have owned it (had it about a year).

Ho-Li Shite!

*eyepop*

I am playing back Tubular Bells recorded at 15ips offa new 200gm pressing....oh my god.....I don't remember it sounding this good when I taped it!

This is truly an amazing machine.

I can't wait to hear the record and repro results of the concert I am recording in a couple of days.

I also cleaned the entire tape path more thoroughly than it ever has been done in it's entire lifetime (at least 20 qTips used on that alone!), and I cleaned every connection, the faces of all the buttons and all the knobs, too!

This. Is. Wonderful.

I have an old Realistic tape head demagnetizer, and it has a piece of plastic over the wand, with one end thick and the other thin.....I ran the thick edge around and under the head cover and around all of the parts. Works fine 4 me!

Awesome! You got some pix for us? And when you cleaned, you DID use 99% alcohol or some other approved solvent labelled as a cleaner, right?

Just checked the bottle...

Did I do sumthin wrong?

And my camera is KIA, so no pix....my cell has been weird today, too.

The 70% stuff is a bit watered down. It may also have other additives in it you don't want.

To clean tape path and heads, is best to use a high purity isopropanol. If you can, go to a local dealer that sell only professional audio equipments for studio and PA. They have high purity isopropanol for about 5 euros a bottle of 200ml.

Failing that, a hardware store is a good place to get the proper kind of alcohol.
