Does anyone use hockey pucks under their speaker spikes, whether they be on hardwood floors or carpet? And if so, are they the rubber ones or aluminum?

The reason I ask is because I notice that Marten Design Coltrane speakers use something that looks very similar to hockey pucks.

Personally, I like the looks of the pucks under the speakers, plus it would raise my NHT's up about an inch higher, getting the tweeters right inline with my ears. I think it would also help stabilize them a little better on the carpet.

Your thoughts?

I just ordered 30 brand new 6oz Inglasco regulation hockey pucks to experiment with, for just over 30 bucks shipped and have plans to modify them so that I can put my 80 pound NHT 2.9's on them without the spikes sinking down into the pucks. *bigthumbup*

That sounds cool although I'd hate to think of what could happen if your speakers ICE...*fit*

I'd like to try the pucks. For now I use just the spikes if so equipped, but only on carpet.

Well I'll be using the spikes on the pucks, on carpet.

well, it's common knowledge that only genuine CCM pucks offer the sonic benefits and reduced resonance that we're all looking for....

srsly tho, neat idea, never even considered it

LOL!

Well I'm going to try it and see what happens. The main thing I'm looking for is raising the speakers a bit to get the tweeters at ear level, plus I think they will look pretty good under those NHT's.

My shipment of 30 arrived last Sat. I may spend a little time this weekend playing around with them.

I don't have speakers or speaker stands with spikes on them. (Some day maybe...*hope*). One of my hobbies is astronomy and for my telescope tripod I use three isolation pucks (Meade Vibration isolation pads). They're not inexpensive but they really help dampen vibration that screws up the image through the eyepieces. Maybe these would be applicable for speakers, too?

It will only work until the team demands them back!
