$2.99!! one of the nicest WALKMANs i have ever known!! it appears to share the transport mecha of the WM-10 that i also have;

sadly, i am quite unable to test it out as it' design employs a set of slide-on modules that accomidate it's various power sources, and none of those were present.;-(( still, quite a piece of engineering, WAY ahead of it's time!! it must be an anniversary model, what with the paragraph silk-screened on the face there and all...o-o:-)

the first dd walkman was the wm-2, tho id prefer the wm-dd2 or the boodo kahn.

its interesting that i mention wanting a dd walkman,

just yeasterday i found a wm-20 ( an updated version of the wm-10)

i cant see any diffrence between it and the 10 on the outside.

its missing the battery cover, has a ton of wow and the left channel cuts out.

im thinking of replacing the belt and fixing the headphone connector.

battery door notwithstanding it screams belt buckle.

Try spritzing the volume control with DeOxit to remove corrosion in the rotary control. Depends on how long it's been sitting, your problem may lie there/ Does the channel cut in and out as you move the volume, or wiggle the headphone jack?

actually it seems like the eq and nr switches need the deoxit.

I actually picked up a Sony WM-FX455 for $2.99 the other day. It's in really good shape, though I think the volume control needs a little cleaning. It's even got a clock that stays running when you take out the batteries for a bit. And, I managed to pick up a 3V 500mA AC-DC adapter and the proper tip for a grand total of $2.10 on clearance from Radio Shack. :D:D:D

It doesn't spec out very well compared to, you know, a real deck, but its certainly not a bad walkman. http://www.sony.com.au/catalog/product.jsp?id=WMFX455

It was probably very lightly used, as the rollers, capstans, and the head didn't really need any cleaning at all. Certainly out of my MDR-G42 headphones it still sounds pretty good, and the radio picks up stations pretty well for a little guy like this.
