Who Travels for Work or Play?

Got an industry conference in Anchorage, AK all next week. My employer (the State of Alaska) has main offices in Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks and smaller offices throughout the state. Since I'm in Juneau (the state capitol) but Anchorage is bigger, we travel there a lot. I've got next weeks conference, two weeks later I have an overnight trip, the week after I visit a remote gold mine on Admiralty Island, and then the following week another week-long trip to Anchorage.

I got out of Alaska to dry out and thaw last month when I went to Delaware to visit my mom, but no fun travel in a long time.

Who else travels for work or play, and where do you like to go?

My fun list includes Crete/Greece (again), the Carribbean (again), Scotland/Wales/UK, Poland (sometime in the future).

How about you guys?

Home to Chicago for Christmas,, thats about it

Is not a hobby for me, but my wife likes to go out there so from time to time we for a travel.

Most times we do it inside the country. Spain has lots of beautiful places, from cold to hot, from mountain to beach... and of course, we have one of the best culinary offer of the world.

I haven't travelled so much, but have been in these different countries:

- France
- Portugal
- Morocco
- Canada
- USA
- Finland (and yes, I visited Santa's Village in LapLand, hehe!!)
- Andorra
- Gibraltar

When we were in USA we met Sam Palermo (member of this forum) in person in out visit to Chicago. Also have met other reelers in person of Yahoo! "reeltoreel" forum that came to Barcelona, so if anytime any of you come to here... toc toc!

United Kingdom is another place I'll visit sooner or later, but I'd like to start with the north part of the country. As is really near here and most times is cheap to fly to there, we will try to go with the family.


For work, from time to time I travel, but always inside the country. The time with more activity was two years ago, when I was traveling from Barcelona to Madrid twice a week during three months, always by plane.

But for pleasure, I like to go to a new country/region and meet the place traveling by car.

This year economy and things didn't happened as was planned, but we wanted to go to Japan this past summer. I'm sure we will go once we can afford it.

- Alaska
- Katmandhu

Off agin next week back to Anchorage, AK on Monday and back home Tuesday night. Gotta re-certify in Visible Emissions Monitoring (i.e. Smoke School) every six months on reading smokestack emissions, and the certified training center is up there.
