here's an A/V receiver that i always have liked the look and feel of. of course, i am well aware that there's much, MUCH better fish in the sea... (one of them i happen to own, the PIONEER VSX-D1S)

What was the need or purpose of starting this thread?

Was the thread David has posted not enough? And as little reminder did you need to post your Pioneer in VD thread?

this STR-AV1020 is a different, older model altogether than dave's. I really SCREWED UP in the thread naming!!!! anyway, like i told him, i was not out to start a pissing contest; i have wanted to compare those two models back to back for some time now, as they were pretty much the equvielent products of two competing companies in their day, (1990/1993 VSX-D1S, 1990/199? STR-AV1070X) and dave provided the perfect opportunity. at this moment, me and dave are cooperating together to carefully compare the two models...
