This is pretty strange but interesting. The seller says of the box insets

"THIS TAPE NOT FOR SALE
Memorex's business is the manufacture of precision tapes for computer, instrumentation, and video-frequency applications. We do not make audible range tapes for home use -- Except in limited quantities for Memorex friends. Next time you think of precision tapes, think of Memorex."

Be wary. He also doesn't state if they are 1/4" or not. They may have been data-grade tapes.

True, but Memorex did go on to make audio tape. I find it strange that Memorex says it makes limited runs of audio tape for friends. From what I've learned here you just don't whip up audio tape as an after thought. Also its a strange thing for a company to do and say it the way its said. The seller can't be contacted either.

BTW what would the width of data grade tape be?

I used to have a reel of that. Memorex made tape for other companies that slapped their name on it.
