Gotta admit, I'm a die-hard college football nut. I live for Saturdays when the fall weather turns crips. Well, okay, it's crisp all the time in my parts of the sticks, but that's besides the point. Anyway, I'm a Penn State graduate, die hard JoePa fan, and life-long Nittany Lion.

PSU 55-13 over Syracuse. Joe used 3 different QBs as he's never been a stats and run-em-up guy. Even the last TD was scored by the 4th string RB.

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p141/Scorpion008/JoePa02.jpg

This win makes Penn State 3-0. So far, without trying to run up the score (they have 3 great RBs this years), they're 166-37 against the competition...

I wish I had better luck; my alma mater got their butts kicked by Mizzou last week 63-3 but that's how the big 12 starts their usual schedule. Good luck to Joe, he's a keeper!!

what's an "Alma Mater"? i don't know jack about sports, always had a sheltered, geeky childhood, hence my sheltered, naive, extra-geeky methods of conduct here on TH. i believe the 'ol stuwster would have been all over this thread, though. WHERE ARE YOU, man...

USC is crushing Ohio State. The Ohio State University never looked as bad as they do tonight. Okay, well those two back to back BCS Championship blowouts maybe, but tonight they look baaaaaaaaaaaaaad!

Missouri(Mizzou) has a kinda week scheadule this year but there are a few good teams. We are ranked No. 6 right now and have put up 50+ points in each of the three games played so far.(3-0 btw)

There is no reason that Mizzou can not go undefeated in the regular season this year but I'm sure they will drop one somewhere. Texas will be a true challenge in a few weeks(at Texas) but Mizzou has one if not the best offence in college football this year.

L.A., alma matar is the school your graduated from. I've noticed you have had several questions. I'll tell ya what I used to get told all the time. "The answer is at your fingertips" or "Google is your friend" :-)<-

It'll help a lot of us. Penn State has played a less-than-rigorous schedule to date, but it's good warmup for the meat of the Big Ten (yuk!) schedule. It's also good to see Michigan, BYU and Ohio State go down, and Ohio State sure ain't playing like they deserve to be where they are in the ranking ....

We play the Illini at home at the end of the month. They usually play tough, and they aren't the patsies of the Big Ten any more.

I'm going to Las Vegas in Nov. & I'm charting all the teams that play that weekend in the Pac-10, SEC, & WAC. USC lost on the road @ Oregont St. tonight. The Trojans were 24 point favorites & obviously didn't cover the spread. A 24 point win on the road is a lot to ask. If I'd been in Las Vegas tonight, I would have bet Oregon St. to cover.

Not as bad as in the NFL. I haven't seen a game solely determined by the refs in NCAA this year as I did in the NFL at least twice.

Texas Tech over Texas by a TKO. The polls should be churning tomorrow? Will PennState leap to #2, or will Texas Tech leapfrog somebody?

Scorpion8
11-03-2008, 08:46 AM
Texas Tech leapfrogs PSU to go to #2 in the BCS. They need to drop the "C" in "BCS" and admit that it's just all BS. I guess having PennState in the top of the polls is just too predictable = another bowl victory for JoePa.

Rex Everything
11-03-2008, 07:47 PM
Sorry to say this Scorp but if Penn State goes to the big dance and meets up with someone from the big 12 (especially south) or the sec they won't even stand a chance. It will be a huge blow out as the talent level in there confence is not so much compared to the big 12 or sec.

Just trying to help you prepare for the future if Penn State continues to do so well.

And I totally agree with you on the bcs. It's time for a true playoff system so we know who the best team really is but there is no money in that like there is in the bs bcs.

Scorpion8
11-03-2008, 07:53 PM
You're about 180-degress wrong on that, sorry to say. They said the same thing last year, and PennState crushed a Big12 opponent, and the D and O is much much better this year. Spanked 'em like a red-headed stepchild. Gimme a break with this SEC/Big-12 is in a different league and a notch above everyone else.....it's all bull-pucky. PennState can run with anybody in the country, and nobody prepares a bowl team like JoePa. You won't see an OhioState-Bowl-like-result on his resume anywhere. The list of teams that JoePa has humbled and sent home with Kleenex includes many, many Big 12 and SEC teams. Sorry, just plain wrong.

Rex Everything
11-03-2008, 08:02 PM
At least you are a true fan but Texas or Texas Tech would destroy them. The have not seen a team like either of them and won't till they go to a bowl as there confrence has nothing like the two Texas teams. That is just an observation from a guy who is a Mizzou fan.

It won't be long before we know for sure.

Scorpion8
11-03-2008, 08:50 PM
That's hilarious. Lesse, Texas got beaten severely by a team ranked 7 places lower than them, so either Texas sucks (because that disparity in rankings should have been a landslide mismatch in their favor) or Texas Tech is superb and let's just hand them the trophy right now. Since we know neither is true, then the only logical conclusion is that neither of them is as good as their ranking. In fact, PennState is 6-2 in the last Bowl games that matched them against SEC or Big-12 teams at seasons end, including a crushing of Texas.

Ha! Gimme a break.

Rather than argue with someone who is an alumni and superfan I'll just set back and wait and watch :)

BTW, I only see A&M (not Texas) losing by 7 points. I must be looking in the wrong spot as I don't see this crushing you speak of. :)

BTW, when did a 6 point loss become a severe beating? That was the difference in the Texas/Texas Tech game(both teams have better records and far tougher schedules than Penn State this year).

GO MIZZOU!

Scorpion8
11-03-2008, 09:44 PM
BTW, when did a 6 point loss become a severe beating?

When your vaunted D gives up 39 points, it doesn't matter if you lose by 1 or 50. The Texas D was as porous as a pasta seive. Yea, I'd consider that a whoopin'. Texas Tech flowed thru Texas like diahrea.

That was the difference in the Texas/Texas Tech game(both teams have better records and far tougher schedules than Penn State this year).

Gong! We have another loser, folks! Penn State was 9-0 before Texas and Texas Tech ever played, and now Texas Tech is 9-0 and (snif) Texas is 8-1. And according to the BCS, which talkes into account strength of schedule, less than 0.01 points separates PennState and Texas Tech, and they're both 0.7 to 0.8 points over Texas. Come on, gimme a break here. Yet PennState is #2 in all the polls run by humans and coaches and it was the same mythical BCS computer that gave Texas such a high ranking before they couldn't even hang with the #7 team who should have been so far below them to be even funny.

Rex Everything
11-08-2008, 08:41 PM
Well....we may now know where Penn State really is Scorp :)

Playing in a very weak conference and losing to a very weak Iowa team. Hell, by the standards set above giving up 24 points to a team like Iowa is a complete and total crushing.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself Scorp. :D

Go Mighty MIZZOU!

Scorpion8
11-08-2008, 10:49 PM
Well, I agree, they should have never given up 24 points. But they deserved to lose that game the way they played. They played down to the competition and sure didn't look like a #3 team today. I was surprised the seniors didn't take charge and slap some heads to wake people up.

Good luck to 'em. *hope* I'm all for anybody who isn't the Nebraska's and Oklahoma's of the world, although those two are much more tolerable now that the teams don't seem like the convicts side of "The Longest Yard". Of course, my sympathy to anybody who suffered thru Bill Callahan as a head coach (coming from a long time Okaland Raider fan).

Rex Everything
11-15-2008, 10:17 PM
Well, Mizzou sealed up the Big 12 north today but they did play a bit of a sloppy defensive game. I'm not sure why our defence does not play better.

We still need to beat Kansas in the last game of the season in two weeks and should be able to.

I must admit I am worried about the Big 12 championship game.

I see Penn State did well today Scorp. It looks like they'll seal up the Big 10 with no problems and that a Rose bowl is in there future.

Scorpion8
11-15-2008, 10:38 PM
It was close at half, but Joe must've knocked some heads at halftime and shaken the cobwebs out. They got back to their winning ways.

No. I believe the two loses to guys that are in the race bumped him out.

PennState lowered the boom on Michigan State to lock up the Big 10 title. Game wasn't even as close as the score, 49-18 (they gave them the last 11 points as the 85th string kids were playing...). It also looks like Oklahoma is opening a can o' whoop arse on Texas Tech. Gonna be some shake ups in the Top 10.

It's a shame what happened to Washington. Many programs go thru a "hard times" but since Washington will be getting a new head coach next season, there's hope. Seems like more changes than usual in coaching turnovers. But the one that should turnover won't, and that's Notre Dame. IMHO.

Scorpion8

Let's see how the pollsters treat Texas Tech. When Penn State was #2 and they lost by a FG, they dropped to #8. Texas Tech was on the one-sided end of an arse whooping last night. They sure didn't show they were the #2 team in the country as that game was'nt even competitive. So does Oklahoma jump a bunch of teams to take their spot?

I'm guessing OU makes a big jump Scorp. That game was just silly last night. The Big 12 south is now a bit of a toss up. Three teams with the same records.

I sure hope Mizzou does not have to face that OU team that played last night in the Big 12 championship. I'd much rather play Texas or Texas Tech again.

My brother lives in LA and considers himself a PennState fan too by virtue of going to their medical school. I've already dropped a dime on him getting some tickets. I think if we get Oregon State it might be a let down. They may have made strides over the season but we spanked them to open the season. USC might be a bigger audience draw.

Did Mizzou miss the team charter and they got these folks from the local Jr.College? Sorry.... they seem a second out of step with Oklahoma. Mizzou isn't getting any pressure on Sam Bradford, and they seem to be reacting a step late to anything Oklahoma does. This doesn't bode well at halftime. But then any game Brent Wusberger does usually goes bad for somebody ....

Didn't OU give their best to Texas, who scored a whole bunch of points on them? OU may have been beating people and scoring 60 some points, but they give up 45 or 30 points a game also. I think the FL team actually has a defense, so we'll see.

Yeah, Mizzou barely pulled that one out. Was not really a very good game for them. I can't figure out why it took the defense and entire half to adjust to the run game. Mizzou's secondary was just aweful this year.

I guess in the end all that matters is they won.
