Hello,

I am looking for good speakers in the range of $200-$600 preferably around $500; around 100W each (more or less). They can be either old or new ones. From what I am seeing it seems that Klipsch RF52 is awesome speaker in this range. Somebody has experience with Klipsch RF series and the sound of those cerametallic woofers? How these are compared to the poly carbon graphite woofers in the klf series ?

Thanks
Dimitar

I am real happy with the DCM TimeWindows I bought back in '74 that I use on my office system. They seem to get around $250 ish when they come up. They still sound great and have a wonderful midrange. They are a match made in heaven when driven with a Sherwood S5000..

so many choices in that range. so many outside variables to consider.

1) what type of music do you listen to?
2) how big is your listening room?
3) what will you be driving them with?
4) are you willing to make a road trip to get them (especially vintage)?
5) do you have the WAF to consider?
6) etc.
7) etc.
8) etc. + 1
9) and so on
10) ...

i've got somewhere on the order of 20 assorted pairs of speakers. i can't decide which ones i like best.

Here is a white paper on speaker design.

Should tell you something about materials.

How about a used pair of Heresy II's?
I think you might find a pair for about that much.*yes*

Different good sounding choices I would think about would be
B&W-cdm1
spendor-sp1
epos
all the above are musical sounding speakers, not fussy about amplification and always sounding like you changed to a better speaker whenever you drive them better...but only if you're asking for personal opinions.*grin*
