Check out my Luxman R-117 and matching D-109 CDP. Both can be controlled with the RR-117 remote control. This is my favorite remote controlled receiver of the Eighties.

those are nice!:-)<- not exactly my idea of the greatest examples of high 1980's style, but certainly better looking than anything available today!!!!o-o:-)

True, it does look too black. However, there is no plastic anywhere, the buttons are metal covers and have a very nice, positive feel.

The R-113 was a little different. I had one, and thought it felt cheesy and sounded thin. It was the bottom of that line, though.

amen to that. i've got one and it is a stellar performer. i feel kind of goofy tagging along to the receiver threads, but i dont have a tape source ....... yet.

TOO BLACK?!?! ya daffy? that is one of the prerequistes of "HIGH 1980's STYLE" i simply men't that they weren't my personal ideal vision of it, was all...

I found a near mint Akai GX-270D locally this summer. It plays well but has distortion when I record. I still have to get that sorted out but for $20 (and the dude threw in a bunch of tapes) I'm in the RTR gig and liking it :)
