OK, here's an odd one, looks to be early '70s vintage, to my eye...

is this your new 700?
or someone elses.
if this deck didnt have separate bias controls for each channel, id want it.
ayeka, what deck do you use to record on?
from what i know this deck was the first 700 from nakamichi, they had two subsequent versions, each one more digital than the last.

*wave*That's a beautiful Nakamichi but I don't think it will record on Metal tape as the selector says Normal and CrO2 (Chrome). My guess is this predates the invention of Metal cassettes. Love the look though! *hearts*

Hi Lady A,
700 Tri Tracer is a wonderful deck, albeit a 70s classic. I have a recording done by a friend on his restored unit - Al di Meola and friends recording. It was done without Dolby on the superb BASF TPII Reference Maxima. It has a special warmth and organic feel about - such an "integrated" sound to the music. It lacks nothing in fidelity. Although these decks predate metal tape, they acquit themselves so well with type I and II that this is not a big issue. Those DRIIs for instance will be very well handled.
Cheers - Marc

Manual and channel seperate adjustment for bias and record level is by far better than automatic and/or joined adjustment.
By the way:
Does anybody know if the term "Tri-Tracer" just relates to the fact of having three seperate heads?
If not, what is it related to?
