I acquired this several weeks ago, but I just didn't have any time to clean it up until this weekend. Just finished cleaning it up and taking a few pictures.

It would seem that this must be Teac A-3300 season, as I have seen a couple of other members post with their new acquisitions. This one is an A-3300SX-2T, the 1/2 track version. It came with the TZ-612 adapters and is in excellent condition with the exception of the head cover. It would appear that at some point in it's life, it was moved and during the move, sat next to something that rubbed on the head cover, blurring the cast model number legend.

The gentleman I purchased it from bought it to transfer some things to tape, but soon discovered that a 1/2 track machine was a little "too hungry" for tape to suit him!

It will match up nicely with my A-2300SX that I picked up a while back. I also picked up another nice little Teac item, a RC-120 remote that will work with either the A-2300SX or the A-3300SX-2T. I purchased it from Innovative Audio. They were very easy to deal with!

Here it is with the A-3300SX-2T.

Yep the A3300SX2 Track is getting popular these days. I just recieved mine last week, albeit with minor shipping damage to a foot and the right wood side at the bottom. Other than those easily repairable issues, which the seller is taking care of, it is a seriously underrated deck with stellar perfomance and makes nearly indistingushable recordings from a SACD or other source, imparting the beat of the "analog" sound. I will be adding a Tascam DBX unit to it as soon as I can find one so I can play tapes from my X1000 on it.

My heads are or look brand new as does the pinch roller, and the deck looks like it just came out of a time capsule. It came with NAB adaptors and rack mounts that do no damage to the wood sides. I have removed them and may sell / give them away, them as they fit most, if not all Teac / Tascam units and come with an insulating strip on each one that does no damage to the wood case or sides on the units.

At 7 1/2 or 15 ips the sound is pretty much the same so I will probably use 7 1/2 ips primarily as a 2 track machine is hungry enough for tape as it is.

15 IPS seems like overkill for all but the most critical home recordings. The A3300SX 2 Track is a hell of a machine and sounds sweeter than any machine I have used/owned even the X1000-2000 series, and is damn near bulletproof. Not to mention easier and cheaper to service, plus parts are easy to come by.

All in all a fantastic machine at a nice price. I could have had a 4 track machine at the same price, but wanted the 2 track as all I have read on it tells me its sound and performance are superior to the 4 track machine.

Hi El Monte Slim,

I hadn't realized the RC-120 wired remote control replicated the button colour and configuration on the deck. A nice touch! I'm not going to ask what the number of 10.5" R2R decks have grown to in the Slim household. Nah, I think I will: is it 8?

Yep, they're fallin from the sky it seems. Luckily they're pretty easy to catch.

Damn nice machine, I wish I could get my hands on one. Just the right size for mobile recording, but with 2 track 15ips capability.

If I had known that I would've bought one from a TH member for my A-3300 some time back...

It's actually 9!

I have another unit that isn't "quite ready for the prom" that I will post in the next few weeks! *wink*

Damn, I thought I had nailed it at 8.

El Monte Slim: you always do such a nice job in presenting your R2Rs when posting pictures on the forum. It's great to see the care and attention you devote in maintaining your components. Sure, I would love to see Deck #9 when she's ready.
