Just signed up this evening, scanned various posts and liked what I read.
Vinyl is primarily my passion, I am however avidly enthusiastic about this so called anachronistic medium.
I travel around the UK frequently and this is where cassette really really comes into its own. Of course there is other portable media (never ever succumbed to digital, only listened to an I-pod for the first time a fortnight or so ago!).
Having recorded/archived a considerable amount of music the tapes, player and 'phones are usually the first thing I pack.
Cassette is ingrained, from about 1972 when I had "Killer, Led Zep II and 2001 OST".
This was followed by tape compilations for friends through my teenage years - the spirit of 1977 spawning a cottage industry of homespun taping.
I got my first Nakamichi early '80s and it's just sort of blossomed from there.
Missed out on a lot of the type IV metal tapes back then although I've managed to snag a few since - Maxell Metal Vertex is just gorgeous, mind you TDK MA-XG/MA-R/SA-XG(a recent discovery and a beaut), That's Suonos and Sony Super Metal Master are terrific - not so sure about BASF and Fuji Axia - all comments and contributions welcome.
Anyhow, the J. Geils Band, Erykah Badu, Goldfrapp, Roxy Music and the Stones await.
