Here are a couple of my better bookshelf speakers. The Sony SS-M3 and Yamaha NS-100X. Both are well made and a cut above the usual consumer crap.

I'll get a pic posted of the Sony drivers and the binding posts...
They are the baby prother of the legendary SS-M9, which I have seen but not heard.

those are truly dual-purpose speakers; you can listen to them while track&field jumping over them. so long as you're 12" tall or so...

Yes, you are correct. Seems overkill to drive that tweeter with a separate amplified channel.
