Here is my Yamaha stack. I'm running three pairs of NS-1000M's with three Yamaha PC2002M professional amplifiers. The PC2002M is the pro version of the M-2, which sold for $1,200 during 1978-1982. Yes, I have a fourth amplifier waiting for another pair of NS-1000M's.
This is classic sound reinforcement at work. Mids and trebles show some improvement but the bass really gets a boost. More SPL...

Thanks Acoustic. I can feel the floorboards vibrate, even through the carpet and padding! With the bass up more on the EQ's, things really start bumping. Bass is still accurate and not the rolling kind I dislike.

Sweet stack! I had a shot at a pair of those and missed it by seconds at SA (of all places).

I've never seen a pair at any thrift or swap I go to and I live in Socal, which has millions of people. To see one in Alaska and miss it by seconds must have been a heartbreaker.

Sam in So Cal you must run into one pair of these each week. I rarely see any in my neck of the woods.

I love my 1000M's. I'll rub my Buddha belly for luck and hit the thrift tomorrow morning, maybe I can add a pair of mates.

L.A. is the entertainment capital of the world so we are loaded with gear. Plus we don't have hurricanes, floods, and tornados that periodically wipe out homes and the gear inside...
That being said, we also have tons of audio enthusiasts so the competition is very stiff. I was vigilent AND lucky to find my three pairs.

Finding a pair at a TS is asking for a lot. That being said, good karma is on your side...

It would be asking one heck of a lot. I've been going in there for a long time and the best pair of speakers I've seen were Pioneer HMP-60's with scarred cabs and foam rot. Still, I could use some good karma...
