Im using Nero 8 and Burning Rom. I put in a CD to add a song to the file list and bam- error copying file- aborted. I tried using Nero Express- doesn't copy at all and it says you can put CDs into it. When I load up Microsoft Media Player and try to rip the CD- error again.

Is this the CD copy protection kicking in? I can't even dupe the CDs on my CD-R Audio home deck. All songs after the first one were also blank. What is going on here?

I ripped the CDs needed on my laptop which is working perfectly fine with this. So something is corrupt in my main computer. Any ideas?

Try ripping the CD with EAC (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/), it should be able to do it, or at least hopefully it will give an error message that is more descriptive.

What are your WMP settings? Have you not deferred the correct filetypes and operations to the program you use?

I've got an old copy of Nero. Both source and CD-R drives need to be on a seperate IDE controller (old). Also, make sure you are testing AND burning. This will take longer but save CD-R's.

If you are doing a direct copy, then yes, both drives need to be on separate IDE buses (a controller may have more than one channel/bus) because IDe does not support "disconnect".

However, doing a direct copy is not advised, since if the source drive has any problems reading the disc, you risk ruining the CD-R. It is better to copy from CD to a hard drive first, then record the CD-R from the image in the hard drive.

Yes, rip to your HDD at a reasonably low speed and then bounce the files to Nero.

I recently purchased a SUPERSCOPE PSD 340 CD/RECORDER for the purpose of making copies of CDs. It costs more than the standard CD recorder, "if you can still find them"!. It has many unusual features, and YES I believe you can make direct copies from copies. This is something that the standard CD Recorder will not allow. I would like your opinion on this !!

Im not sure what my settings are on the main computer, but these problems occured no matter what program I used. If Windows Media player has issues doing this simple task, then something isn't right. Im going to download the latest Media player and see if that makes any difference.
