Does anyone know how much it costs for tax and duties to get a 65lb 300.00 receiver in to the us from canada?
I keep seeing cool units imprisoned there, and I need more sx-1980 units.

Get a passport?

If our government continues to make our money unrecognizable, perhaps the goal is to merge with Canada and then I wouldn't be looked at as a potential terrorist nor wanting to go on a beer run in Calgary and I could walk straight into Innovative Audio, PROUD AND TALL...

and just drool.

because I just don't have enough ugly currency to get something *fit**headache*

The moral of the story is: Since Canadian and US dollars are only pennies per dollar in favor of Canadians, the shipping is only as brutal as the carrier and the distance...

If you can't handle US to US shipping at that distance it would be time to save. People who trade with Canadians learn the nuances quickly and survive.

We here are still hoping for 'unilateral disarmament'.

Lay down your 'ohms', so to speak.

Send a PM to TH's member Broonsbane. He lives up in the 3rd world (*grin*) and routinely brings gear north/south across the border from USofA.

Hi 1980 broker,

It would be nice to hold onto a few of those Pioneer SX-1980s for Canadian Tapeheads. Welcome to our forum! Do you have 3 of them, already?

Nando.

He's around Ontario, though or getting some BC stuff down towards Portland would be a great thing.

Leave our Recievers alone!
Besides, they only work within a 10km radius of a Tim Hortons, which over here in Canuckistan, is pretty much everywhere! ;)

It depends who you ship it with. Do not use UPS. Even if it doesn't get tagged by customs they still charge the recipient. I learned the hard way. I use Fedex when I think there is a chance I might get hit. Or just mark it as a gift.

I believe, using Canada Post is less expensive than Fedex or UPS for shipping. But there's a limit to the amount being insured. Braxus will know more, than me. I've shipped small packages, less than 20 lbs., to the U.S. via Canada Post without issues.

As far as monster receivers: In Canada, everything is big like the great outdoors.

Canada Post is indeed the cheapest way. But you can only insure up to $1000 Canadian dollars when sending to the US. Coming from the US to Canada, you can only insure up to $675 US dollars with USPS. Its is risky to be sure.

That said to ship 35 pounds in a 24x 24 x12 inch box- $100 Canada Post ship cost with $1000 insurance from BC to New York.

braxus, the USPS limits are 70 pounds and 120 inches (?) dimension. 70 pounds is barely enough for some but not all monsters. The 120 inch box dimension is too small so shipping damage is very likely.

I shipped my Hafler from Canada to the states by Fedex. If I remember right it cost me 35.00 and was here in 3 days. The reason I say Fedex. They take care of you if it gets stopped at customs. They are least likely to damage your gear. It takes almost 2 weeks for Braxus packages to get to me through the post. If it weighs 60 lbs. I would go Fedex. And I'm a cheap bastard.
