Picked up a "non working properly" Revox B225 off ebay to match the B285 receiver, B215 tape deck and B791 turntable set I have already restored. Beauiful shape, no power cord (what do people DO with all the cords!!), bulbs burned out, as expected, HUGE tray motor, a monster, all LCD segments work, needs a total recap..has all the original Frako and Philips caps. Clean as a whistle inside, so spent mos tof it's life ina cabinet of some sort. Very cool player with a ridiculous number of buttons for all sorts of programming and fatures, including a 1kHz, 0dB test tone button! Can't wait to get it recapped, and hopefully that will fix the issues, which all sounded like power supply problems. Supposed to have a near indestructable transport. Pics when I'm done! Any one have one?

I had aspirations of building a Revox system in the late 90s just like your doing. Never followed through with it. Can't wait for pictures of yours.

Finished the recap and everything now works great. One segment of the display is dim...I'll look into that. Waiting for the bulbs to arrive. Also can hear the slightest whine of what I THINK is the focusing motor when using headphones, still have to hook it up to my system. I think it's a ground loop somewhere. I still have to go through the SM and check voltages and the like. Maybe something will show up. it could also be just the headphone amp. Just glad it all works after 4 hours of work on it.

Edit: Whine is definitly the headphone amp picking up something from ground. Doesn't exist at all throught he fixed ouput to the system. Nice solid sounding CDP for sure!

1/15/11 It was a good day for Revox repairs. Fixed the dim segments by re-flowing the solder to the LCD connections. Swapped out the NE5532s for LM4562, and was very impressed with the improvement. Just waiting for the bulbs and it will be better than new, sounds and looks excellent. Really makes the set! Also finished the first B710MKII with the rollers that came from Terry Witt. Fixed the W&F issues completely, and was able to dial in the heads and calibrate the deck.
