several years ago I used a pair of silver interconnects from my pre amp to my amp.. after several month's of them.. i couldn't stand them anymore. they were to bright...

now that I have changed out gear more times than I care to remember.. I am once again toying with the idea of venturing into silver interconnects.

Anyone here using silver interconnects in any part of their system?

Yep. Persevere with them. I use a mixture of materials in interconnects and it is usually just a case of hooking them up where they sound the best. If they are to bright between your pre and power amp, try them between your cassette and pre etc
Good luck with em

I use silver cables.

I have beyond 120 set of stereo RCA connectors.
Among them a few silver ones.
I match them to the gear with which they sound the best.

It is my plan in the future to create multicabling as interconnects as I use it for loudspeakers now.

hey Al,
i did several sets of diy silver IC's a while back that met with limited success. that is that everyone who tried them, except for me, thought they were too bright in their systems. i did have two reports of excellent results using them with vintage tuners ..... i use them exclusively in my main rig, very clean and precise, and one guy who didnt like them in his rig thought they were stellar in mine. i do have a pair or two spares still lying around if you want to give them a whirl i can send them out.

Dolph, Can you explain how the multi cabling thing works. Interseting as I have never heard of or seen this approach before.

It seems that if silver IC's aren't done correctly you get excessive brightness. This may also have to do with the components of your system, or the extent to which the cables are broken in. Although some people don't believe in cable burn-in, I've recently begun to use a "cable cooker" and was quite surprised at the difference it made in the first couple pairs of IC's I tried. I mention this because I've heard that some IC's sound harsh or bright unless and until they are placed on some kind of burn in device.

Yes silver can be bright. I cable cooked mine for a week and smoothed them out. Mike

I don't understand the whole thing, never will and leave it to others.

Hi Danger boy,

Used to use a pure silver digital ( coaxial ) cable from DAC to Transport.
It was an Audioquest Pro???
And yes it was explicitly detailed, so eventually moved to a Chord Signature, still very very detailed but just warmer and smoother with better base...a fabulous cable

ehoove send me a pair of his homemade silver cables. I installed a pair of inductors in my Magneplanars a week before trying these and was surprised at the lose of highs from the inductors and the corresponding return of the highs with the silver cables. They sound great on the CDP on this system.
