I was inspired to write this by Teresa's post in another 8-track thread...
Q: What is your best sounding prerecorded 8-track tape?
A: Mine would be my copy of Point Blank's self-titled debut on a blue GRT cartridge. I have a later issue in a different black shell but it doesn't sound as good. I also have it on lp but I like the sound of this 8-track better. I bought this tape used for 50 cents at Finder's records in the early 80's. A few years ago it got jammed up inside the cartridge but I had it repaired and it sounds good as new. While I generally make no pretense of 8-tracks having great sound, I really like the way this one sounds. What's your best sounding tape?
I think the best sounding 8-track is none at all. I never heard anything that came close to open reel tapes, even at 3 3/4 IPS. However, the original cassette tapes were even raunchier than the 8-tracks at the time. The cassettes eventually got much better, didn't self destruct *bomb* usually if you cleaned your deck, but by this time CDs came about.

Heart, "Little Queen". For some reason the rock sound just lends itself to 8-track. Off hand I don't know the make of the tape, but am pretty sure it's a brown shell.
