Just picked up one of these bad boys:

Very interesting machine! I have to open it up and figure out what's wrong with it, naturally.

Anyone have a copy of the service manual? I just checked HiFi Engine...nada.

Just cracked this bad boy open. I ordered a belt...have it here. I can't even see where it goes yet! This is a fun one to work on...

Anyone ever find a service manual for this?

According to Wikipedia (reliable, heh) this is the first three head cassette deck. I wonder if that's true. It is from 1973 after all.

I still have this machine sitting in a corner, half torn apart. Anyone with any experience with these old toploaders please chime in.

Well....I've dug into a couple,but not that one exactly.You sound like your onto the main drive belt replacement,might want to check on any idler tires while your in there,also find the record switch on the circuit board and hit it with some Deoxit.Those top-loaders layer it on when it comes to getting to belts,by that I mean there's stuff piled in the way sometimes as you make your way in to change out belts.Some are easily accessible,others I've worked on are a PITA!! I had two of those and loved them.*bigthumbup* Only problem was the violent eject........*eyepop* They'd open the door and throw the cassettes at you*flame*

I love those old top-loaders. They look like what a tape deck should look like (IMHO).
